"We speak in hushed and reverent tones about reproducing the ineffable beauty of music, when in fact much real music is harsh and vulgar and ugly. "

I love this statement! A hard truth to accept.

I agree, but it makes for lousy sales.

WTF do I care about sales.

On another note, you know what makes up the real high fidelity market? Its those select models here and there that just happen to be right. High priced, low priced, it doesn't matter. Sure enough, if you set out to build the ultimate Hi Fi product it will look cool, weigh a ton and sound like crap next to something that just worked out well.

You should, it's the trickle down effects from the true high end products that makes the products that schmucks like me can afford even better.

In a few years you will be able to download some insanely great sounding songs from the major record companies (and everyone else into recording), play it on a cheap (but sophisticated) PC and enjoy music like never before. Vinyl is only making a comeback today because it is different and offers quality. When high rez files start becoming available they will be the new thing AND still offer quality. We will be set !

Hey, this is the 21'st century! Just this evening I've talked to several of the greats (Doro, Beardog, BDT etc.)concerning audio equipment without leaving my desk or picking up the phone. This internet stuff might catch on in a few years.

Madmax, talking about audio equipment over the internet and playing back audio over the internet are two different animals. The latter I don't see becoming mainstream for high rez setups.

I'd like to point out that this is a thread about Gordon Holt and not your issues with Troy. Please respect that.

Swerving back to the original topic again......;)

Me? I thought these were some of the issues in the article??

No, sorry. I was referring to Yashu and the issues he has with Troy. I had read down to a certain post and then didn't look to see that there was another page written and all was back to the topic. My bad. :o

See, you make my point, Chuck.
