SDA1 with 2 small ports??

my friend's SDA1's have two small "ports" just below and between the tweeters and the two upper mid bass drivers. is this normal? i've never seen this on any other SDA1's.
are the top two mid bass drivers isolated from the bottom two drivers? When I press on the passive...the top two mid drivers don't move out like the bottom two do.
