No, audiobliss got the propane tank thing right because he read it on another forum.

A fitting broke in my hands when I was putting the new bottle on and it soaked my gloves with liquid propane. Couldn't get the gloves off fast enough. Liquid propane is about -44 degrees F I think? Yeah, cold. The frostbite isn't real bad but it hurts. My right hand is worse than my left hand. I can't do much about it and the doctor's can't even tell how much damage there is for a few days until the swelling goes down. The good thing is that it's still red so that means there is bloodflow. Lack of bloodflow is what causes the nasty, black damage of dead flesh in extreme cases of frostbite.

The chemical burn is on my leg. It's not reall bad but it keeps getting aggravated. We went racing on Sunday and I was filling the car with C16. C16 is essentially aircraft fuel. Not JP-4 which is more like jet fuel and no IC engine will really run right on it. C16 is a detonation free fuel that smells like Testor's Model Airplane Glue. Well, I was picking up a jug on Sunday and there was apparently a small crack in the bottom that wasn't leaking. I had the handle in my right hand and I put my left hand under the bottom of the jug and it just busted wide open dumping about $120 worth of C16 on my already hurtin' left hand, my left arm and my right leg. It evaporates pretty quickly but in quantities that much it'll still irritate your skin pretty good. Only thing I had to wash it off with was the extra water from the intercooler which was about 33 degrees. Yeah, that felt AWESOME, let me tell you! So I wore jeans to work yesterday and it did nothing but irritate the rash on my leg. So I have khakis on today but it's still bothering me.

    All because of race cars.

Oh an we don't use nitrous. Bottles are for babies, real men get blown! (Yeah, saw that on a bumper sticker once. Kinda cheesy but it gets people riled up!)

Oh, yeah, here, the race car:

    wheels_up_banner3.jpg

It will be no more soon. It's getting pulled apart and all the go-fast parts are going in to another car. I got a website up for the shop, gonna chronicle the build up in pictures and articles.

And yes, those are drag radials and the car is wrinkling the sidewalls of radial tires. It makes a bit of power.

that car's got some bite eh?

hope all is well, especially with the hand. Just from a guess, I would say frostbite wont be an issue, since that sets in over prolongued exposure to cold. this seems more an extreme temp burn.

    either way, f*ckin OUCHIEE!!!!!!

Do whatever the doctors say, make sure there keeping a close and watchful eye on it.

I didn't get to a doctor yet. Just the medic at the track. It's getting better so I'm just watching it for now. If it starts to change funky colors, to the ER I go. Right now though, not much can be done except the doctor looking at it and sayin' "Yep! Bet it hurts!"

Man, that really stinks. :( Hope everything heals well. Fast would be good, but we'll settle for just healing with no permanent damage. :)

Well, never got to the doctor about this but a friend of mine has a friend who is a doctor and he looked at it at a party and said it didn't seem to be too bad and just superficial. It was still red so that means blood is flowing and it's not dead, just damaged. The most damage will probably be from the chemical burn from the actual propane which will end up like really bad sunburn.

Well, he wasn't kidding 'cause yesterday, most of the damaged area on my right hand peeled off in a chunk about a 1/16th of an inch thick! It was disgusting! But the skin is real thin now so I have it bandaged up to keep from getting broken and infected. But it looks like it's going to be ok. I get to keep all my body parts! YAY!

Might end up with a cool scar though!

Oh, the rash from the C16 on my leg went away a while ago.
