Well, we let our 8 year old daughter pick out the tree this year. Apparently she has inherited her mothers large tree gene... Decorating will start tomorrow.

BTW - my lovely wife in the picture, she is 5'2".

Huge tree, but fills the room nicely. A little early for me. Enjoy.

My daughter did that to me one year as well....had to go over the fence and through the sliding back door it was so big....she wanted it to go to the tip of the vaulted ceiling. One time was it.....little 7 or 8 footers after that fiasco.....:p

My family was one which always got a late tree. I carry on this tradition. Usually I get it a week before Christmas.

A few years ago I cut it too close--I went two days before and the lot had closed and left a pile of discarded trees that were too odd to sell. I ended up bringing home a 15' tree with a bad lower trunk and cutting the top 7' off for the living room.

Thanks for all the well wishes guys (and gals). Will be decorating tomorrow. We will put the top decorations (and lights) on from the balcony. It is really much easier that way.

Usually there is a chair where the tree is and the piano is centered under the giant elephant. (the curio cabinet is moved quite a bit down the wall as well.) I just put the wood floor in this spring so this is my first year of easy tree needle cleanup. It is much easier than when carpet was in that room.

When the kids were little (and I wasn't sure if the cats would climb the tree or not) I bolted the tree stand to a 1/2 sheet of plywood. It was one of my better moves as we have not had a tree fall (yet) once I did that. The stand is one of those swivel and tilt type deals and the tree is really much larger than it is rated for - I really hope it stays up.

One guy and his wife to get it in the house... :) (but 3 guys to get it on top of the tahoe without damaging us or the vehicle....)

Thanks again everyone and happy holidays. (will post another pick once we get it decorated....)

For some reason the tree-unwrapping scene from "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" came to mind looking at that pic.

Funny you mention that - the entire way home, my wife thought our vehicle must look alot like the griswald's coming back with their tree. No squirrels yet though..

I think one of those PSAudio upgraded power outlets to replace the existing wall unit would really deliver better clarity!

I guess this is a little late, but I finally took a picture of our Christmas tree today with all the presents under it.
