it's a three way race so far.... but it's not unusual, given all the models that follow under each category.

finding out that the 2B's and 1C's appear to be favorites for a lot of people in the non SRS models of SDA's. ;)

I'm trying to join the SDA group this week. I found a pair of SDA SRS 2's on CL. He isn't really sure if he has the IC cable. He said he got a big wad of cables with them so I'm hoping that he has it. However, I'm not experienced enough in SDA SRS to know what tweeters are gold. (image attached)

Here's to hoping that I join you some time in the next couple of days.

I've never seen Polk tweeters like that.

Ditto. They ain't Polks. The originals would be 1" domes on rectangular backing plates. Subtract the cost of four correct tweeters (about $100 for used SL2000s, or $200 for new RD0-194s) from the price.

These speakers have been hacked. I'd make sure everything else was undamaged, too.

Well then, I guess that's why I've never seen em before. Seeing as they are pretty cheap, I'll probably pick them up anyway. and if they were sl2000's I was going to replace those.

at least I was going to try to.

Just be certain the enclosures haven't been cut for the new tweeters, and the electronics haven't been changed. While you're at it I'd make sure the woofers are correct, too.

Garbage, pass. Those speakers should be set on fire and the owner should be drop kicked in the balls.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I agree. Those things look like they've been cut to fit those tweets. Big pass, something else will come up sooner than later.

isn't that being a little rough on the speakers?

but seriously, can you really go wrong for $50?:o

The factory opening for the original driver is most likely smaller than those replacement, basement, drivers. Additionally, the frame is larger and even if you re-use the old cabinets, the baffle will have extra holes and look terrible when used with proper replacements.

If you think they are worth $50, then buy them but I firmly believe they should be burned to the ground.

They are worth $50 by any measure, even if only as a parts source for replacement woofers.

Eight midwoofers for $50 is a good price but goodness knows what condition they are in.

Too bad I'm not looking to make money. I'm looking for a good speaker for the game room. :)
