PS3 Question about HDMI/component

Can the PS3 output full resolution over component video? Or do you need to have an HDMI-capable display?
My CRT projector only has component video and RGBHV.

I'm pretty sure you'll run into DRM problems with 1080p blu-rays. But games might be ok. Not sure though...

So you're saying to play blu-ray at full resolution you MUST use HDMI?polkaudio RT35 Bookshelves

I believe 1080i is max for component, and 1080p for HDMI. If your TV upconverts 1080i to 1080p like my Sony, component is fine.

I'm using a Sony VPH-D50Q CRT Projector which does not upconvert 1080i to 1080p. So from what I understand with games I will be able to get 1080i, but with blu-ray I am limited to using the HDMI port?
Is this correct?polkaudio RT35 Bookshelves

I actually have the same questions (but I didn't want to start a new thread). I don't think there is a tv with only component inputs that can handle 1080p (is there?). My questions is;
Does the PS3 even have component outputs? (from what I saw it was just HDMI for HD).
If it does, will blue-ray movies play at all through component? (does the copyright protection prevent that, or did they finialy give up on that?).
The same questions for the 360 (I know they have component outputs [or at least the cable], but will HD movies play through it?).Denon AVR-3803

Yes the PS3 has component outputs, you just have to buy the proprietary style cable that plugs into the slot in the back. The same is true with the 360, except that you get the cables (componnt and HDMI) in the box).
I don't know about the ability of either to play HD movies through component, I'm using HDMI on both of mine. -
The PS3 will output up to 1080i for Blu-ray movies over component cables. Since you have a CRT projector it will only display interlaced images anyway since that is the way that the technology works. You should be all set. However, DVDs will only upscale if you use a HDMI interconnect.// Panasonic AE8000 // Pioneer SC-57 // Polk Audio RTi A9 // Polk Audio CSiA6 //

ps3 plays 1080i through component. i've read you can use the component adapter from the ps2 on the ps3.
the xbox 360 hd dvd player outputs 1080i through component just fine. if you don't have hdmi, the 360 also offers vga connection for 1080p.
