WHOA! A typical car chase with an ending you normally dont see on TV.
Possible NSFW due to the ending. Not for the faint hearted.

You have been warned.

Wow. That was TOTALLY different from how it's portrayed on TV. I'm not sure how. Maybe the lack of commentating. But I really got a good sense of just how serious it is.

Dang, ended up shooting the guy?

Any time shots are fired in a situation like that, those involved are put on leave for an internal investigation. It's procedure.

I'm typically a law and order guy... but to jump on the hood and start firing is too excessive IMO. The vehicle was stopped and unless he had a gun, there should have been a better way to end the situation.

i thought i was gona have to shoot a guy once. i was 19 and was at my parents house when i looked out the kitchen window to see this guy in our driveway duck back behind my dad;s old truck. so i put a couple buckshot in my 12 gauge and stepped out onto the back porch. he had by then made his way into my backyard. i coudl tell something wasnt right just by looking at him. i put the shotgun on him from the poch and told him not to move. i held him there for about 10mins untill cops got there. turns out he was mentally ill guy who was being taken care of down the street. it was kind of sad because he was screaming not to take him back because they would beat on him (his caretakers). scared the crap outa me though.

The skid used his car to hit the officer, that's how he ended up on the hood. Using a vehicle in such a manner is considered deadly physical force, which is what the officer replied with.

As for the seatbelt warning, in many areas police are exempt from wearing a belt while on duty. It's your discretion if you want to wear it or not. The extra second or two it takes to unbuckle can make a difference in some situations.

Not excessive in the least. They thought the car was stopped and he tried running the officer over, so he killed him. We, as tax payers, are better off for it.

If it was anything else the cop would have shot the passenger as well, which he didn't.

Even if he didnt try to run him over, but once the cop was on the hood and the guy starting speeding away, thats intent to kill. Kudos to the cop, more oxygen for me.

I think hes right, he got on the hood and then the car started moving.

EITHER WAY, he took off with the cop on there. Two things could have happened:
Cops falls off, gets run over, dies.
Cop jumps off, driver speeds a way, hits and kills someone else.

Or a combination of both. That was not excessive, what he did not only potentially saved his life, but saved the lives of others as well.

He meant he was going to attempt to stop the vehicle with his vehicle. He probably intended a Pitt maneuver but that sure did not work out.

I watched the video several times and you really can not tell what is going on exactly. The only thing I could see is that there is something we are not seeing.Either the driver had a gun or he was trying to drive away with the officers in his path. I can't tell.

No mention of a gun in the article, also:
