What do you all mean "sold account"? You sold your ID and password?

And explain the "server" you keep talking about. There is a seperate server?

I started in 97 with the beta 1 test of Ultima online and played that until EQ came out. This came out in my senior year of college and there’s no way I would have graduated if it had come out a year earlier.

I only played EQ for the first year and got out about a month or so after the first upgrade. I had a lvl 50 magician with the full "hate" gear and then I took him to lvl 57 (with a lvl 40+.. hell.. what was that class that cast SOW?). I sold the account on ebay for $1000. IT was on the biggest server at the time.

I moved to DAOC and played for a lil over a year and sold that account for $1000.

Then I went back to Ultima Online for a year and sold my accounts for another $1000.

Druid and Ranger(much later) had SoW

I know you and the rest are going to call **** on it but I ebayed my account for just over $4,000. You name it, I had it.....my rogue was badass. Also had a Druid that from the first level had gear that was worth ridiculous money. Another stupid halfling with things like fungi tunic, manastone, etc... Rogue had jboots, full growth armor, and more...I still can't believe to this day I managed to graduate high school playing that game.

Back before Sony starting cracking down people would ebay their accounts....this way rich people who liked to waste money could be intangible goods at insane prices without spending years of their life to do it like us foolish people.

The game had 50 servers or so to choose from, so your character was only on that one server that you had to log into each time.

And yes, after canceling your account and removing your credit card info, you would transfer your ID and password to the lucky buyer of nothing!

Now you cant egay your account? How does Sony control the accounts?

You pick any server you want when you first register.

Sony and Blizzard will sometimes be the ones that buy the account, ban you, then get the money back because you sold copyrighted material.

Also, it's not hard to tell a character that is very far in the game...servers are small enough you begin to remember people and how they equip themselves.

The site is still in use for selling gold....you use gold to buy things in the game but often it is very hard to earn.

You don't NEED to pay for gear, you earn it, but you also have the option to sell some of it on sites like that although it's usually frowned upon.

No, there are no prices for the servers, when you buy the game it entitles you to join whatever server you want to play on. Maybe another friend plays on X server so it allows you to join that server.

A large server is one with alot of people who play regularly on it.

OK so it IS like any other game. Ther farther you go in the game, the more money or tokens or gold....etc, you earn, to buy items..

Ya, I’ve tried to sell my Wow account but its been almost impossible with Blizzard. I still pay for it every month to just keep it alive. Accounts don’t go for much now-a-days but I would think I could find someone to pay over $1000 for an account with 5 lvl 70's (with pretty much rank 10+… or comparable… in pvp on all 5) and 4 lvl 35's. I really haven’t for some time. I tried eBay once and had a hit on $1000 but ebay shut it down.

Oh I see, this way you dont have 5 million people on one playing map... wouldnt be able to move around much.

But wouldnt you want to be on a small server?? Not alot of people to pick up all the good items? Or is there no items or such, laying around , hidden for you to find?

Oh yea, these games are serious haha.

I didn't even try to sell my WoW account....gave it to the guild that I earned all the equipment in to keep for a spare toon since it was so easy to dual box WoW accounts. Unlike EQ where you actually needed 2 computers you could just use a dual monitor setup for 2 accounts in WoW, which i did when i was running my gold farming bots :D

Smaller servers mean less people. Less people means smaller guilds(teams). Smaller guilds means less chance of killing the big baddies for the nice gear.

Is this game a real time game? What I mean is, if you and 10 friends are at a point in a game where you lets say, get to a room you need to beat. Another group can walk right passed you, beat the room and take everything in it? Leaving you with nothing?

Yep....unless you are in an "instance" which only the group you are in has access to. And once you kill a baddie it permanately locks you in for a week or 2 depending on the instance so everytime you go in you are in the same one.

With as many people playing, isnt there a chance you can be in the same area (map) as 5 or 6 other groups, all racing to get to a spot first? Or do you just kill ther other group and get the loot for yourselves? Or do groups have their own area to play in?

Depends if you are on a pvp or pve server....and yes, if all those are racing to get something...first group to "tag" the bad guy it's their kill, no matter who does the most damage.

So you can sit back, let another guild run in and start killing, then run in after, when the cost gets clear and kill the bad guy? And its your kill? Wouldnt those other players be pissed? You just running in, after they took down the defence, and you kill the main guy.

Oh, in that case, hijack on!

If you ran in and stole it yes they would be pissed. But if it was in an instance that couldn't happen...in the regular environment absolutely and that's what makes the game cutthroat....best of the best wins.

However, if they attacked it first then you jumped in and helped kill it you couldnt take the equipment, only they would have the rights to take the equipment...the game physically wouldnt let you do it.
