Monitor 60 problem

I have owned these for 2 yrs. now. I recently discovered that when I turn the volume up around half way on my yamaha htr-5990, the receiver shuts down after about 2 minutes and says check speaker wires. I have checked the wires and there are no problems with the wiring. The wiring is 14ga speaker wire. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    My guess would be that you have run out of power, started clipping & over heating. If you want more volume, then you probably need a separate amp w/ more watts. More speakers are destroyed by weak, over-driven amps than by big, high power amps.
