PSW150 buzz

I have had my PWS150 for some time now and the other day my wife heard a weird plusating noise from the sub. After she powered it down it was okay but there was a buzzy distortion when I ran anything to the sub. Also when you turned the power off there was a loud pop - regardless of what the volume was on the sub.

I did some troubleshooting like I saw in several other posts:

• Ran a cd player directly into both channels - heard the distortion at a moderate level across all crossover frequencies.
• Took the driver out and connected it directly to my stereo - no distortion.
• Ran speaker level wires to that input - heard the distortion.

That being said it appears the issue is with the amplifier :mad:.

First question - was my line of troubleshooting correct - is it the amp?
Second question - if it is the amp - what am I looking at cost wise to fix it?
