Seriously, weather we go with my idea (stand alone forum) or H9's idea (combining BassM and HT), who makes that change? Who do we talk to about it?

H9 you are a smart fellow, and i see your point clearly, but

Please.... give me one reason adding is a problem?

Is adding even a problem with Polk?

I wouldn't mind scrolling down that additional 1/4in. or so...

Not a problem per se, but more splintering and now one more forum to keep track of. Sure it seems like a small gripe, but my idea (to me) makes very logical sense. Plus, in the end combining the two will make it easier on nOOb's that come to this site for the first time.

We still get car audio ?'s in the speaker or subwoofer forum.

Well , me friend, let me just say this....If you can split up something as crazy as video games and movies/music, then i dont see a problem splitting up Bass M and HT Audio.

But thats fine. Just change the name completely to HT Audio. And it will deal with anything HT 5.1 or 7.1 related, including subs, formats, speaker placement, digital and analog. Hell we might even be able to answer a few 2 channel questions there......lol:p:p

Ok, to me, we should have separate speaker and subwoofer/bass management forums. They can be two totally different animals. Why integrate them?

Combining HT and sub/bass mgmt makes PERFECT sense to me.

However, I don't have a problem with just making a new forum.

Oh, and Music/Movies and Video Games are not NEARLY as closely related as HT and subwoofers. I thought that was obvious.

Alrighty then, a 5.1 AVR is electronics so it should go in Electronics forum........

I think we need to classify as the intended use/application. And while there are some who really like to have a 2 channel set-up with a sub, they are few and far between. So for all intents and purposes subwoofer discussion here on CP is pretty much HT related.

With your thinking why not just have an Electronics and Speakers forum and that's it. ;)

My 2 cents: I would think that since this is Polks board and Polk is currently focosed on the HT mass market this would only make sense. If you're complaining about too many sections, I would combine 2-channel and vintage since most threads in both of those are interchangeable, not HT and subwoofer

In the end, I agree with Dave, you guys arguing against it look like loons. Does Polk market ANY speaker line as a 2 channel line? Maybe the i-pod thing but it appears to me that even the LSi line is marketed as a HT line that can be used for 2 channel.
There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction. Nine-tenths of the rights he bellows for are really privileges and he does nothing to deserve them. So Polk sub's are marketed for 2 channel? Why can't the subwoofer forum be combined into a new HT forum.

Putting 2 channel electronics with vintage speakers really doesn't make a lot of sense other than they both tend to be older gear.

I'd be all for leaving the subwoofer forum seperate if it had any kind of traffic and if it had more to do with non-HT realted stuff, but it doesn't, so combining it into a 'new' HT forum is the only logical thing to do.

If you rename the sub forum to HT Audio, then I guess it really doesnt matter. And I wont have to be the first one to put up the first stupid question in a brand new forum.....lol:p:p

No, the vintage and 2 channel would seem to be just as redundant if not more so: What vintage discussions happen that aren't about 2-channel?

Again, WTH is the big deal with a seperate HT grouping? If I have HT issues, I'd rather not have to wad through all the "which subn is better" bs most HT threads get into when combined.

    "Electronics" is just too general.

I believe the forum is Vintage Speakers a little different then just Vintage gear.

So now you want to limit what subjects go into the forum? Like it or not Subwoofers are HT pieces and based on the Subwoofer forum you won't have to do a whole lot of wading.

    H9:

You're the one wanting to limit the topics and I was just pointing out how absurd your position is.

So your whole point is we shouldn't have an additional section because you feel there isn't enough volume in the subwoofer forum and subs are only used for HT? So Sid's whole stereo subs for 2-channel applications would go.... Most initial responses to a sub post are generally "Are you using it for music or HT?".

I think we should combine 2 channel and car audio, to make room for HT Audio.

The one objection I have to combining sub with HT, is that the sub forum is in the "getting started" part. Thats where it needs to stay!!!

HT Audio, should be under "advanced technical"
    Monitor 7b's front
    Monitor 4's surround
Frankinpolk Center (2 mw6503's with peerless tweeter)
    M10's back surround
    Hafler-200 driving patio Daytons

Dayton 12" DVC w/ Rythmik 350a plate amp
