Replacing Grille Cloth

Has anyone had success with this? I have some MiniMons that have some tears and plucks in the cloth I would like to repair (they are such great little speakers!). Is there a good source of cloth that resembles the cloth used by Polk Audio? Any experiences tried by others would be of interest to me.

The fabric store near my houes carries speaker grill cloth. It's reasonably priced, but I can't think of what that is right now. The stuff is a dark brown/black color (Nice and late 80's) so I think it would match. Look around at your local store, they might offer the same thing.

Never even thought of that ... seems like an excellent idea, thanks zingo.

To anyone whose actually done a good job of this repair, what was the trickiest part of succeeding? Is it a really tricky job, fairly straightforward, or something in between? I'm hoping that on such small grilles it won't be too bad. I just don't want the repair to look worse than the existing damage, and I'll have to do all four to make sure they match properly.

It's a pity Polk Audio don't just sell some of their current grille cloth. I would probably just have used that.

Polk sells Cloth as well. At least they used to. I redid my old M7's Fun little project. The Corners are the hardest but all in all a simple project

Email customer service to see if they still sell it....

    Just dug this up ...
Thanks spasticpitbull! That's a great resource for starting out on this. I talked briefly to CS about this too, so, in case anyone else wants to take on this project: they suggest using the old cloth as a template for cutting the new cloth. Some of the new grilles don't have much overlap for guesstimates!

I'll see if Polk still sell any and post back here with the results. I'll also post the pix when I get as far on as spasticpitbull.
