For Sale: My SDA 1C's

I've been thinking about doing this for awhile as I just don't give these the fair play time since the SRS II's do the main duty. In another room I have a pair of old Altec Lansing Milano's (another thread about that) that I am wanting to get "mildly" into a tube amp for them. So, selling these will fund part of that project. As some of you may remember, I bought these from the original owner for $400 with the original receipt and owners manual back in April. Since then, I have upgraded them with Solen caps and Mills resistors (have the receipt for the goodies) and put (4) brand new RD0-194 tweeters that may have 4 hours on them...if that. The crossovers may have seen about 25 to 30 hours since they were done. I was going to change out the banana jacks and the grill cloth but never got around to it. The SRS II project took over.
I am asking $600 for these with the upgrades and the RD0 tweeters so, basically, you are getting the crossovers for free. I'm not out to make money on them, either. If you'd rather have them with the SL2000's, I'll take $400 for them and keep the RD0's. I feel this is a fair price for these speakers and I would rate them a solid 8 to 8.5 out of 10. If I had to pick out blemishes on these, it would be that the tops have very "slight" stains on them that I never got around to, either, although it's barely noticeable. There is no edge damage on the tops and all corners are solid and no separation of the veneer. There may be a half dozen or less snags on the grill cloth if that.
Of course I would want local pickup as we all know about shipping these. I drove 2 hours to pick them up myself. I would be glad to work with someone as best I can on getting these to you if you are interested. They are a great pair of speakers but they are just being wasted sitting in a spare bedroom closet now. I have attached a few pictures and I am glad to take more of any particular areas if need be. You just let me know.

Man I would buy those right now if I lived nearby.
-
damn, damn, damn it! why do I have to live so far from deals like this??
good luck with your sale.. those are the next pair of SDA's i'll own some day.. 1C's.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?
Vancouver, Canada Sept 30th, 2012 - Madonna concert  -
Nice nice deal.
From what I hear those, and the SDA-SRS2's are the best over all speakers in the SDA line up. With $200 in new tweeters, and probably at least $100 in XO upgrades:eek: I love the big ones, but they are not very practical except in very large rooms, and no close neighbors.
If you are thinking of SDA's, and live within 800 miles, and don't grab these slap, and sterilize your self!
Edit
No. I do not personally know AVGUYTX
I just know a good deal when I see one.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

You guys get first dibs on these for a week or so (is that enough time?) and if they don't go to a fellow Polkie first, I'll move to other avenues.
I don't have a comparison to other models of Polk SDA's other than the 1C's (my first), the SRS II''s (my main speakers) and the SRS 2.3's I bought for my buddy. But I will tell you that all 3 have their virtues that make them great. The 2.3's needed a bigger room to open up and man did they open up! The SRS II's are really too small for my office for the moment but will eventually make their way into the living room when I redo it later this year or the first of next. The 1C's are just flat out musical. There isn't really anything they do bad. Very well balanced all the way around. For some things I listen to, the SRS II's are a little bass heavy where the 1C's aren't. That's where a decision had to be made of which I wanted to keep. Believe me, I had to do some thinking about it but one of the two had to find a new home.Richard? Who's your favorite Little Rascal? Alfalfa? Hmmm....I'm in Texas and have the 1B's (stock). How much of an improvement would these be over mine I wonder...? What part of Texas are you, avguy?
-
Latest generation, real wood veneer, look a lot nicer, new tweeters and crossovers; I would make that switch with my eyes closed (and the 1B's are great SDA's)._________________________________________________

Ricardo you should buy these since you cant buy my stands.
kidding..... Good look on the sale, they look really nice. -
I've had a nice pair of 1C's in the past...I sold them because of the same reason you are selling yours.
Needless to say,I've been sorry ever since....BTW p.m. sent -
The 1C's are outstanding and this is just an incredible deal. Normally 1C's bring $400-600 alone. Now add in $200 for the tweets and probably close to $200 for the x-over upgrade and this is no brainer for anybody local looking to PU a pair of one the best sounding SDA's out there."Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. If you have the means, it's a no brainer!!!!!!"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. I'm going to keep them on the forum first for 2 weeks from last nights post. After that, they're going to be listed "you know where". lol. I wanted fellow Polkies to have first dibs on them. Also, on pickup, I prefer cash but will take a USPS Money Order via mail to hold them until you can make arrangements to pick them up. I would also consider PayPal but if you use that, then I'll add their % which is something like 3.66%.
It's just basically whoever commits to them and buys them. I guess that's fair, isn't it?Richard? Who's your favorite Little Rascal? Alfalfa? Or is it........................Spanky?.................................Sinner. -

Texas42 is officially first in line to get my 1C's. We've been PM'ing back and forth about them. I know he will enjoy them as much as I did.Richard? Who's your favorite Little Rascal? Alfalfa? Or is it........................Spanky?.................................Sinner.

Yup, I'll now be listing my 1Bs in a separate add for a quick sale ($350) to accomodate my purchase of the 1Cs.

tell me what freight would be on these. very interested

I love ya all like brothers...even those who are women....but still, we really do muck up the FS posts. I had to read through 22 posts to determine that an offer had been made and accepted. It is so common for offers to get lost and even for the item to get lost when forum members go off on a well-intended and other tangents in a FS thread. This is especially a problem when "dibs" are given in post 7 and then retracted in post 14, and who knows what in between. Rant over. (actually, there is more....but I smell some flame throwers warming up....)

Wow...I opened this thread to see what other 1Cs were for sale and then realized they are the ones I bought....and a few months later sold. I'm soooo confused now...
-
Maybe it's my fault for not going back and marking it as sold. If so, my bad.Richard? Who's your favorite Little Rascal? Alfalfa? Or is it........................Spanky?.................................Sinner.

I'll lay the blame on someone else for reviving an old as hell for sale thread....If I came across this and was interested, I would just PM you to see if you still had them, not top the thread, but whatever blows your hair back.
