    I'm not an interior decorator but everytime I want to paint, my wife points me to HGTV before choosing a color which has to be blessed by her anyway.

    On another note, look up a "Murphy Bed". Could help the room not look like a bedroom when entertaining friends. Although depending who you entertain it may be fine the way it is. :D
