CS400i, possible blown driver?

Hi,

First I'd like to let you know that I am definitely not very knowledgeable when it comes to audio. I have noticed that my CS400i seems to have much more sound coming from the left side than the right. And it sometimes seems to me that it just sounds to peaky? I purchased my speaker back in 2002 and don't have the receipt anymore, so they are out of warranty.

I emailed polk audio and I got a response saying that I need to buy a new driver. When I called polk, they told me to join the polk club to get a discount on the drivers which are $75 each. The representative also told me I should take out the driver and test them. I really have no idea how to do this. Is there a write-up somewhere that shows me how to take the drivers out and test them?

Also, when I play xbox online and have the people's voice come through the center speaker, it definitely cracks. Thanks in advance!!

    Welcome to CP!

Those drivers come right out if you unscrew the front bezel from around the drivers. This is done with a 9/64" allen wrench. Geting them out should allow you to see if the wires are intact, and swap the bad side with the good side, just watch the wiring.
