Is the cv-6 cable better than the AQ Bedrock ?
AudioAdvisor has them on sale, and I was thinking of trying them, but if my bedrocks are the same or better, then why waiste the grip...

any thoughts ?

I replaced the AQ Bedrocks with CV-8's w/ 72v DBS, and the Bedrocks were like 99% as good as the CV-8's.

I think you'd have to move to another brand to get a significant improvement.

    Thanks Early B.

I was thinking that I would have to go way up the cable food chain to get any kind of noticeable improvement...just thought I`d ask..

This isn`t a debate, just a question for those that know...;)

I say keep your Bedrocks, especially since a lot of your stuff seems to be committing suicide lately. :D j/k

I seem to find that with wire, it is the differences in the type of metals and how they are stranded that appears to "tune" the music one way or the other. Solid copper sounds different than multistrand, gauges - thinner usaully more impactive on higher freq. etc. Now most are not night/day difference. But the good gear can pull thru the subtle differences. YMMV.

Here's a thought - why do you feel the urge to upgrade? Just because you see cables on sale or because you really sense the limitation of your current setup?

No point in upgraditis if you can't point out the current flaws in your set, especially with something as miniscule as speaker cables. I'd rather upgrade the electronics or speakers if I felt my system was lacking.

BTW, I did an A/B comparison of the AQ Rocket 33 bi-wire and the CV-6s and I preferred the 33's. Not sure how the Rockets compare to the Bedrocks you currently have, but I'm glad I didn't spend more money for diminishing returns.

for the newbies, let me enlighten you a bit as to where I`m at in my hobby...

I am very happy with what I have, and will not be getting much "better" sound or "quality at this price point....and I`m good with that.....not looking for it

just like rolling tubes, just like the two different cdp`s that I have....one is not "better" than the other, but it is different, and very enjoyable to listen to in different configurations, and sounds that one gets from swapping cdp`s, cables, or tubes, etc...

Now I do not mean to jump on a newbie, but I feel the three posts to not say anything constructive is a little much...if you have an opinion, by all means voice it..

If you ever get curious about something, maybe you will ask opinions from those you feel are your peers, and make an enlightened decision......after you have takin the advise and made up you own "open" mind.....maybe not.....but I enjoy swapping gear, cables , and tubes...have for a LONG TIME, AND WILL FOR A LONG TIME....

look I`m late for work , it`s very early in the morning, and I gotta get rolling..
    need coffee...

    have a great day listening

I just picked up some Tara Labs RSC Prime 1000s. I was thinking of trying them against my similarly priced PS Audio XStream Plus cables to see which I prefer, but the Primes are bi-wire, and my thiels aren't. So, I might just hang onto them for when I finally get some good bookies for my bedroom, or if I even upgrade the HT mains.

I am very happy with the bedrocks..!!

just wanted to hear what you guys thought about the dbs series cables...

    They look interesting

I think the AQ bedrocks are the best cable for the pricepoint out there...Audio Advisor always has a good deal on on them

They are definately the best cables I have ever had to date

I think if I ever change out the speaker cables , it will be with MIT`s to match my I/C`s

It would be interesting if those that can make it to the next PF, if they brought the cables. I have the CV-8 SC w/ a 72v upgrade and I am happy. Very happy. It would serve my rig good [and others, maybe] if we could get a direct comparison with the SC's in question as it seems no one has a direct comparison. I'll bring mine.

Food for thought. I'm as curious as beardog03.

It's a good question and I have heard just about all Audioquests speaker cables now.
I own the CV-8's myself and I compared them to the 4's and 6's and found them all to sound almost exactly the same. I also demo'd there 16-4 and 14-2 bulk cl3 wire and even that wire sound about the same.

Audioquest's cables are excellent. I really dig the fact that they all sound so good. Making the change might get you alittle clearer sound but it's so hard to hear the differences. It's not like going from monstercable to Kimber . It's really like Audioquest got it right in there entry level cables and keep it going all the way up there lines.

Nothing wrong with getting the higher end cables and trying them out. You can sell the other pair and get some money back.

Go for it, what do you have to lose??? For the record, I'm completely happy with Audioquest and have no desire to own anything else.

Bear, I think some Bedrocks and some Avantgarde horns would be nice..........maybe some Manley stuff or VTL........like you said bro, a long long time.

Not like your not already pushing some quality gear.
