Casualinfoguy, The Caps & Resistors we chose have both very good sonic properties and were not too expensive. For both crossovers I spent around $360. Plus around $44 for 1LB of Cardas Silver solder (which will last forever)

There are much more expensive Caps & Resistors out there and there are people who rave about them. But it will cost considerably much more money, If you want to go with Mundorf Caps then you will be spending around $1200. There some that cost even more than that. Somebody on here calculated it once and they came up with $3000 crossovers.

Hey, if you have the funds to throw away then go ahead, but the $400 upgrade worked perfectly for me.

I would suggest that you get them home, listen to 100 hours the way they are now. Then upgrade the tweeters to RD0198-1's and listen again for 100 hours. And then after you have really Heard them and know them then upgrade the crossovers.

This way then you will know where you were at with the original parts and what the upgrades did for you.

Great advice Sal. Also if you can get your mitts on a SDA compendium it would be a good idea to do so. I think it is sold out for now at least. But you may be able to get Joe or sal to loan you theres so you can make a laser printed copy of what info you need because they are in your area. And George is right on with the inital placement of your speakers.

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

Hearingimpaired, any chance I could convince you to help me (or do) the crossover upgrade? I suspect that there is soldering involved (which I have absolutely NO ability to do), which would take me out of the picture altogether. If yes, we could work out the logistics (and you're close!).

I'm in, I love doing this stuff.

One comment on Sal's advice, when you replace the 8 tweeters, let them break in 100 hours then do some serious listening for a week. You can't go wrong with Sonic Caps and Mills resistors anything more than that and you risk some pretty high diminishing returns. Again I'm in, PM me where you live.

Sal, I'd like to take you up on your offer to help me replace all the drivers in my 1.2 TLs. I'm thinking within the month (01/08) at my place (Long Island, NY). Would you be willing to do that? If so, give me a ring on my cellphone -- send me your private email and I'll send you my contact info.
