Guess what me and the Wife did last night for 2 hours straight!

Well I dropped my 10 year old son off at the airport yesterday afternoon for his first ever flight, my Mom and Dad took him and my 9 year old nephew to DisneyWorld. We then dropped off our daughter with my Mother-in-Law for a stay at her place. Being child less for a few days there was 1 thing I really wanted to do!! You got it...go meet Matthew Polk!

One of the local A/V shops is starting to sell the Lsi line-up, so Matthew and a few other gentlemen from Polk Audio (Sorry guys but I did not get your names) were in town for the kick-off. Although the turn out was poor, My wife and I had a great time sitting around listening to Matthew talk about everything from how he got his start in the speaker biz, to how A.R.C ports came about, to his plans on putting some Lsi drivers/tweeters into a pair SDA-SRT's just to see how it sounds. No plans on producing these beasts for us folks, just something for himself.

The "Listening Night" as it was called lasted for 2 hours, but I could have spent a lot more time discussing the past, present, and future offerings from Polk. One of the things that impressed my wife and I was the way in which Mr. Polk fielded questions and comments about some of his competitors. Nothing but high praise for all, in fact he was able to make a positive comments and still stay on track as to why the Lsi's outshine the compettion. A Very Class Act, Hats-off!!

For you SDA fans outhere, Mr. Polk did state that the SDA speakers were some of his favorites, sorry but I did not get a chance to ask if there were any plans to resurrect these wonderfull speakers.

Got to hear a few stories about some of the fine folks at Polk Audio too.....Micah I think you need to get some more light in your office!

Yes I was a dork and took in my Polk Audio sign and got him to sign it. Now I'm a dork with a signed sign!!

Me, my wife, and Mr. Polk sittin around drinkin' a Fat Tire ale , cool huh?!?

    You DA MAN!

    Period.

Poor turnout? Thank GOD, more 1 on 1 time with Matt. Less yahoos....

What a great evening, I'm VERY jealous. And lets not forget, what a great WIFE. I though I was the only lucky **** to have an audio-savy (or at least tolerant) Mrs...

Was he naked under that white lab coat? I know he was.

Good on ya broham, don't wash that shirt you wore, I want to smell Matt Polk in it when and if we ever meet.... Tell me you kept the pen that the Dali Lama touched?

    Cheers,

    Dude,
I bought a brand spankin new sharpie for him to use!! Also got him to sign a 2002 Polk Audio Catalog. We were jammin to Ella Fitzgerald, Steely Dan, Kathleen Battle (Talk about a Voice) - may have to buy a couple of her CD's, even opera sounds great on LSI's.

Downside....mentioned free shirts, hats, coffee cups, pens, and/or signs.... got NADA!!

I live in the same city as Matt Polk and I don't even get to meet him. I have met Micah a few times. Maybe I should have had Micah autograph my Polk coffee mug!

Micah, when is Matt going to do some local store appearances? I'm sure the folks at Soundscape wouldn't mind having him in. How about a Circuit City? How about the entire Polk crew come by Kaos tomorrow for the entertainer of the year contest. I'm sure Matt would love that! :D
    No excuses!

Agreed. If he would have been in the area I could have arranged one heck of a meet at a local LSi dealer....

Lets work on that for next year steve. :)

First of all: I showed this thread to Matt -- up to the point where you rat **** started getting all weird, Matt don't wanna see that. He was very appreciative. He said it was very nice meeting you Frank. He did.

Second: The Texas Polk Gathering, which is a very cool idea (and which I have heartily supported, Aaron), is hopefully the start of something that grows and continues. Ultimately, maybe Matt would show up at something like that.

    Baby steps.

    Frank Z,

I agree M. P. is impressive. I met him 16 years ago at the Stereo Store as it was called then, (now Performance Audio) when I bought my SDA-SRS. I had decided to get the model below the SRS when Matt demonstrated the SRS at a dealer in San Francisco. I went home and counted my pennies and came back a week later to get the SRS's. Too bad I could not buy them that night. He would have personally signed my pair. It is true that he does impress you with his product and the way he presents himself.

    Micah-

Any chance M. P. and George will be in the San Francisco area for a demo in the future? When he does come again you can count me in attendance.

    Keep making wonderful products.

    James
