32 and I could only hear the first one. I could tell there was something on the second but don't know that I would notice it if I were passing by. Too much time spent behind a propeller.

On the plus side, I no longer need to worry about hearing anything above 17KHz. No more exotic tweeters, fancy cables or obsessive tweaking. Plug the zip cord into my HTIB and I am good to go. Flea market postings to follow.
There are two ways to argue with women. Both of them are wrong.

Hmmmm....... it must be my pc headphones because turned all the way up I could only hear the second one. even though I have no problem hearing from 20hz- to -20kkhz on a test dvd I have on my mains at home.

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

Just a note of caution to you guys. You may or may not be able to hear these tones, but your speakers sure can. Someone blew out the tweet on their LSi the last time this thing made its rounds. Keep 'em on your computer speaks or headphones unless you know you can hear 'em without cranking...:p

Turns out the 17Khz mosquito ring tone might be a little dirty from being converted to mp3 thus allowing us 30+ folks to hear it more easily. Here's an interesting blog about it. Below are some cleaner tones to try out. The author recommends not turning the volume way up despite the fact that they are nearly inaudible because it's still pretty intense sound.

Came across this again as it was bumped. 1 yr plus later and now I can only hear the first one. Before I could hear all of them. I thought my hearing has been dropping lately. I am sad now.

You might try them again. I had trouble getting them to play at first.

    I can hear the 1st, 3d, and 4th tones, but not the 2nd (16Khz).

That close to being perfect !

What frequency is that annoying high pitch squealing that the old picture tube TV's make? I can hear that.

I have to admit I am kind of concerned over this.

    Thanks,
    Mike

I think it's the number of horizontal line times the refresh rate
