In the std definition there's a "normal" release and a double disc special edition; anyone knows if there's any advantage on the double, like DTS???

Considering the movie is like 2 hours 25 minutes long, I don't think you'd want DTS on a regular DVD-9 release. The video bitrate would suffer.

I watched the DVD a few weeks ago, and the Dolby Digital track is outstanding. I was running it in 7.1 with PLIIx-Movie, and I honestly think it sounded better than when I saw it in the theater.

This is still in the theaters. Gotta be the quickest DVD release ever.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. It's only on HD-DVD, this title is not getting a Blu-ray release.

Contradicting yourself! Did you hear the DD track or did you have it in PLIIx-Movie? PLII is for analog audio. If you feed in a DD track and have your receiver in PLII, you're not getting DD. Redo it in DD and really hear it.
Never kick a fresh **** on a hot day.

    Home Setup: Sony VPL-VW85 Projo, 92" Stewart Firehawk, Pioneer Elite SC-65, PS3, RTi12 fronts, CSi5, FXi6 rears, RTi6 surround backs, RTi4 height, MFW-15 Subwoofer.

Car Setup: OEM Radio, RF 360.2v2, Polk SR6500 quad amped off 4 Xtant 1.1 100w mono amps, Xtant 6.1 to run an eD 13av.2, all Stinger wiring and Raammat deadener.

If the soundtrack is recorded in 5.1 and the playback system is configured for 7.1, then the receiver automatically engages DPLIIx for the surround back channels.

Because AC3 is the faster and easier term for referring to Dolby Digital files. AC3 is the extension when you encode in that format. ;)

Sorry I wasn't clear, though I certainly didn't contradict myself. It was the 5.1 track, using PLIIx-Movie mode to create 7.1. DPLIIx is not just for 2-channel audio (though DPL-II is for stereo sources to 5.1 only). See http://www.dolby.com/consumer/technology/prologic_IIx.html

To create 7.1 from 5.1 sources, my Onkyo 705 lets me use DPL-IIx Movie, DPL-IIx Music, DTS Neo:6, THX Cinema, THX w/DPL-IIx, THX w/DTS Neo:6, THX Select 2, THX Game Mode, THX Music Mode, etc. DPL-IIx Movie is recommended by Dolby for 7.1 from DD-EX 6.1 tracks, and has been my favorite mode for 5.1 to 7.1 conversion. The only exception is when I'm playing my Xbox 360, for which I use THX Game Mode.

Transformers' 5.1 track in 7.1 using DPL-IIx Movie was absolutely mind-blowing, with some great across-channel pans and some INSANE bass. I'm running a SVS 20-39CS+ sub and a Buttkicker under my couch, paired up with Polk RTi70 mains, CSi40 center and RTi28 surrounds... and this movie is definitely an all-channels-in-use audio assault.

Take a 12% off coupon into best buy and get yourself an A2 Toshiba HD DVD player and be format neutral. With a 133 inch screen how can you not be neutral bro? Whats up with that? You can get the coupon off BB website. Come on you can do it. Also check out valueelectronics.com, call Robert and mention youre a member of AVS and he'll give you a killer deal on the A2. I bought my XA2 from him for a good deal, of course shipping to Japan is always a bummer but I still got it. Then youre all set for Transformer and Matrix on HD DVD.
