Hi my name is heiney9 and I'm addicted to audio.

I'm really loving my 2 channel system these days, synergy is great can't complain about anything other than not enough time to listen to tunes. I'm not unhappy with anything in the rig at this time, life is good.

Many here know my fondness for Nelson Pass and his philosophy of designing very simple circuits with the best hand picked part availble. I've been wanting (not needing) to get a true Pass piece for a couple years now.

There is my perfect amplifier Pass Aleph 30 on Audiogon right now. Perhaps a bit more than I want to part with, but I keep telling myself I don't need it, everything is working fine in my system right now, I don't need it. It's a luxury and I could spend the money elsewhere or save it. Plus X-mas is coming up, etc.

But I can't shake the fact that no matter how irrational my thought is to buy it; I still want it. I want it bad. The reviews have been stellar, Stereophile Class A winner, a fairly rare piece, etc. etc.

I want it not because I need it or have any dissatisfaction with my current stuff. I want it because I'm addicted to audio.

Anybody have a cure?

H9

You guys aren't helping :D . I just can't pull the trigger this quickly. I'm about 75% sure it is compatiable with the SDA's but I'm hoping to hear from Nelson Pass to be sure.

Any of you amp guru's out there cna you tell me for sure if it compatiable w/o the AI-1

see the manual here (click on Aleph 30)

P.s. I was hoping it wasn't compatible then the decision would have been out of my hands.

    For clarification...

There is a big difference between an "Audio Addict" and an "Electronics Ho"

    Actually, there is.

Finding the rig that you are satisfied with. I was constantly on the treadmill (not as bad as some though)....but once I locked in the rig that I like, I really don't have any desire to dick around with other gear.

Hell, even my 2.3tl's are silent the majority of the time.

George has the right idea......get the rig you want and Ronco that ****.

I've opened a dialog with the seller. It's kind of like having a Corvette and wanting a Ferrari.

I'll admit I've had the same main gear for a long, long time. The LSi 9's I bought last X-mas and moved down the road after I bought the 1C's are really my last serious purchases.

I am due for something different on the amp end. And this unit (in my mind) will be the last amp I buy. But, I can tell you this will lead to wanting a new pre-amp and eventually an new dac. So the status quo is going to be upset here.

I know the Aleph will sound much better than my Adcom.........or will it? I don't take changes to my rig lightly and I try to act outside of impulse. There is still is a bit of irrationality to this purchase that bothers me.

We'll see how the seller responds and if it was meant to be or not.

Keeping me sidelined for now are DAC sales seem on fire and evolving again, maybe PCaudio? I expect/hope another round of competitive development. My wishlist a <<<$1k> Dual differentual, discrete output, remote .5db 125+ step attenuater, onboard power supply, double inputs, and some decent jitter control...there are some out there now that hit most of that target.

Not a peep from the seller. Either he's sold it already and blowing all who inquire off, or he's lazy and just doesn't want to sell it. Too much more time and I'd be leary to do a $1200 deal with him. I always test the waters with an e-mail or two with specific questions to see how the seller responds.

When the response is slow, non-existent or very cryptic I usually move on. If you re selling a $1200 piece you should be in a position to answer questions coherently and fairly quickly.

Nope, don't need dac's, don't need tubes, don't need no ultra fancy cables or IC's. I already have a TT & tape deck, which no longer get used.

Soon I will have a prepro to match my 405WPC KICK **** AMP! I'm going to hook that baby up & get lost in the tunes. (which is what it's all about!)
