What's going on in here peeps? People selling parts or entire stereo systems... whom some said they would never part with?

Can it all be blamed on upgraditis setting in? Is it to upgrade to the new line of Polk speakers.. RTiA's or what?

Great deals to be had, but i've never witnessed anything like this in the 32 years i've been a part of this forum.

I'm sure everyone has their own reason, but dang, all at once.. and my pocketbook is done gone dry. :(

I just read your sig, off topic - but if those Tele's you got from me are headed for the CAL d/a in place of the EH - you are in for a HOLY **** moment for sure. I kid you not.

i guess if you sell to other Polkies.. it's not only a sale.. but it's like selling it to a family member.. so you can always vacation and go visit your former gear in a new home. ;)

Some people are constantly selling off gear so they can stop selling gear one day. It's a vicious cycle.

Maybe because we've created a fairly safe place to do business.

there may be alot of stuff for sale but that may not be a bad thing.

When you start seeing people selling their furniture, beds, appliances and other goods you know there is a problem.

For me, I am just trying to get stuff cleaned out, get some money in my paypal account so when there is something i REALLY want I can buy it. No sense drooling endlessly.

I buy and sell a lot just so I can try out more gear. There's too much nice stuff out there to not get your ears on, and too many good deals going around to pass up.

Now, space seems to be my biggest issue with all the gear I've accumulated and turnaround time between buying new gear and selling the old gear.

I guess others are at this point as well and decide to just sell as much of their inventory as they can.

    Why so many sales?

    1. I don't need a projector for my dorm room.

    2. I don't need surround sound for my dorm room.

    3. I don't need a sub for my dorm room.

Me thinks there are some shady dealings going on. Kind of like kiting checks. People selling speakers to other people who turn around and sell them to someone else who turns around and sells them yet again and that person sells them back to the original owner for a lower cost, because, well, 4 people have owned them at this point, therefore de-valuing them so much that the original speakers you sold for $1000 you just bought back for $500 meaning you netted $500 dollars and you have your speakers back.

That or what everyone else said.

Yeah, maybe one day I will achieve audio nirvanna and the vicious buy/sell/buy something better cycle will be abated.

The good (or bad) thing is that your hearing gets poorer as you get older so audio nirvanna will be easier to reach even if you stop getting better gear.:p
