    Thank God....

I thought this was going to be another one of those 'Hey, let's everybody NOT buy gas on this day, that'll show the gas stations' threads...

I'm actually going to make my way through Bioshock before I pick up Halo 3...

I'm on my way to beating Bioshock again(saving the girls this time). Besides, I would never wait in line for a game.

Oh, I forgot to mention, I'm not picking it up for a couple of weeks. I'll let all the hype die down a bit before picking it up. The game I'm most interested inn is COD4, this is one I'll be picking up on release date.

i'll probably pick it up tomorrow sometime. rumors floating everywhere are that there will be no shortage at all. no need for me to wait in line tonight and stay up all night.

anyway, maybe someone will be willing to go 4-way co-op online?

Went to Gamestop on my way home from work to pay off my pre-order and there were already two kids in lawn chairs at 6:00. The manager told me they had 150 people for Halo 2's release, so they're expecting more this time... so I'm waiting to get mine until they open tomorrow morning.

Besides, even if I got it at midnight, I'd wake everyone in the house up if I tried to play it. There's NOTHING subtle about my sound system when I game. ;)

Funny story: The manager informed the two kids waiting first in line that they can't sell a M-rated game to them without an adult there. So now these kids are scrambling to find someone in their family to come there at midnight. One kid said "I'll call my grandfather." I'm thinking to myself "Yeah, 'cause there's nothing old people love more than going to a game store at midnight to buy their grandkids a mature-rated videogame."
    Equipment list:
    Onkyo TX-NR3010 9.2 AVR
    Emotiva XPA-3 amp
Polk RTi70 mains, CSi40 center, RTi38 surrounds, RTi28 rears and heights
SVS 20-39CS+ subwoofer powered by Crown XLS1500
    Oppo BDP-93 Blu-ray player
    DarbeeVision DVP5000 video processor
    Epson 8500UB 1080p projector

Got my copy at midnight. I'd guess there were about 75 people in line where I was tonight. I'm thinking that most people in my area went to the big release party at the official launch at Best Buy near Microsoft.

I made a few mental notes about the types of people that showed up for the release. Mostly men about my age, late teens through 20's. There were a couple women there, including one with an OUTSTANDING figure. For the age of the group, there were some very nice cars present. I'm thinking either men my age that probably shouldn't have spent their money on a $50,000+ car, or Microsoft employees, or both. Almost all the men were either overweight, or scrawny. About half of the preorders were for the uber legendary edition. I sort of wish I got the middle version, but what in the hell would I do with a helmet? Think my wife would let me put that on display in our entertainment center?

Played the first chapter or so of the campaign. Good graphics, cool enemies. Pretty standard Halo shooter so far. I did notice the nice water effects and the lush jungle plants that respond to collisions. Nice touch.

Multiplayer is still where the party's at. Great match making feature. I got to use it some in the beta, but its certainly improved. I am VERY MUCH a fan of all the different ways one can search for the match they are looking for. Soooo many options to choose from. Its so cool and I am sure my affection for it will continue to grow. I like the new weapons too. I need to figure out what my favorite combo for dual wielding is, but I will get there.

All in all its looking to be a winner. (gasp, really?)

I don't understand waiting in line at midnight to get this game. Why don't you just get a good night's sleep and pick it up the next day with no lines? It's not like it's gonna be sold out like system launches..

    but I'm 37...and I probably just don't get it...:D

the only thing i ever stood in line all night for was in the early 90's for AC/DC tickets:eek:

that being said..I'll probably get this game sooner or later..

Don't worry, you're not alone, I feel that standing in line for a product that will be available in the near future (matter of hours?) is borderline idiotic. Especially if you have a job. Do people take the day off to play it (WTF?)? If not, what's the point? I can understand standing in line for concert tickets, in some respects that can be a once in a lifetime event.

I stood in line for the N64, when I was a kid. :)

Thankfully my recently repaired 360 will be arriving at some point today! MS really must have done a huge push to get consoles that were being serviced out so that they could be back in their rightful owners hands for this hyped to no end day. I for one am extremely giddy with excitement. After I have finished my obligations for the day I will be going to Best Buy to pick up my Legendary Edition I have pre-ordered then return home for a long night of multiplayer and a ton of energy drinks. With over 10,000, yes 10,000 MP games under my belt on Halo 2, needless to say I am a HUGE Halo fan and for a while it was the only game I would play even after I bought my 360 launch day.

    dub me idiot.:D

the only waiting i did was for the damned checkout process. got there 15 mins before midnight and was like 75th in line. they 'claimed' to only have 100 regular and 30 collectors and a handful of legendary. i got the cheapest (keeping in line with being cheap). pretty much every collector's edition was plagued by the loose packaging of the case. i guess all the nubs are too shallow and the discs just flop around and get scratched to hell. good one. anyway, stay away from those.

the game is alright. playing with myself ( ) made me realize what made me love one and two so much... playing co-op with a friend. i thought about hittin' up shizelbs, but left him to it. went to bed after having done squats earlier and am now at work. not tired at all. yet.

i guess the game is pretty cool. but still, i look more forward to call of duty 4!

I went in to Best Buy during a little lunch break to picked up Knocked Up and Death Proof (forgot about it last week). There was a friggin' display in the center of the store and the middle isle was barricaded off.... There were definitely people walking in to buy it, but there was no line to speak of, just obstacles set up by the store in order to even get to it. At first I thought it was for pre-orders, but that was apparently handled at the register.

In any event, I got suckered in and I bought it. I hope to hell my negative view of the series so far will leave me pleasantly surprised.

I'll look you up again soon, probably won't play tonight or tomorrow due to other obligations.

yeah, i've always found the series a bit of a chore to tame the controls for some reason. the call of duty's and the medal of honor-type games have the best control schemes for me. and the reason the halo series used to be very much fun back in the day was because we'd light one up and play thattaway. but i don't do that anymore. so it's no wonder halo 2 and 3 don't seem as exciting these days. go figure.

I don't own Xbox 360. I was going to buy the new one and Halo but I decided to spend the money on the airfare, hotel & car rental so that I can go to Ted's house in GA for the PolkFest.

    So no Halo for me.

If you're looking to get a 360, i'm selling mine in the classifieds here! shameless plug...

I'd probably pick up halo 3 in the next couple days if i weren't trying to sell my 360... but I never wait in line for a game... I happened to be out getting some food at midnight when halo 2 came out and ran into a friend who said there was pretty much no line at the place where I had my pre-order so i swung by at about a quarter past and was in and out in a couple minutes!

I just purchased a new Mitsubishi 65" DLP and Halo 3 last night. The TV comes today...I'm stoked. New LSI's, dual PSW1000 subs and Adcom Monoblocks to round out the fun. Can wait. Now I need a plan to get the family out of the house for a few (hundred) hours.

Well I found my first complaint -

You cant record multiplayer videos while having multiple players signed in. How ****!

Other than that, the video feature is incredibly cool to relive those cool moments.

The hammer is down right AWESOME.

There are alot of new features and it will take some getting use to them. The rocket launcher is ALOT different, and I dont know if thats good or bad. It reloads slower... and just dosnt seem as explosive.

Other than that, I like it so far.

Can't wait to get back to Single Player though.
    - Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

it would be nice to be able to play tonight. but ever since i got home from work, the net's been down. well, massively crippled. not enough bandwidth to play halo, that is for certain. a buddy of mine got a hold of cox, with their contantly busy telephone service asses, and they told him someone cut a critical fiber-optic line somewhere. there will be some halo 3 crybabies tonight!

i was thinking some sort of car accident caused this, but i think it may be a jealous playstation 3 fanboi instead.
