Just got home from the show. Me and the Mrs. had a great time.

Amazing performance by the self described folk singer and her accompanying band - Todd Sickafoose on upright bass, Allison Miller on drums, and Mike Dillon adding percussion and vibes.

Big thanks go out to Brock / heiney9 for introducing me to her music.

I highly suggest you check her out (LINK) if she's going to be in your area.

Melissa Ferrick opened and will be on a solo tour (back in Chicago in November) that I definitely want to get tickets for. She is an wonderfully talented independent artist.

Never seen her live, but like almost everything I've heard by her. She sort of defines "quirky", doesn't she? Coupled with a lot of mid-Atlantic attitude. Who could resist?

If you've never seen (or heard) Patty Larkin live... you might wanna :-)

I might agree before I saw the show. Maybe it's because she just had a baby but I think she is less quirky nowadays. She's still a hoot but she was serious as well last night.

I first compared her to Fiona Apple but Apple is way out there compared to Ani IMO.

Next time she comes around I'll be there. Been a fan for a couple of years now since SCompRacer introduced me to her music.

I honestly don't think it could have gone any better last night. The opening act was just as good as the main act. How often does that happen?

Ferrick was acoustic - just her playing the guitar, horn, guitar & kick drum (with her foot). Ani did a couple of acoustic (solo) numbers but was otherwise backed by "the band".
