MP3 player through my system

Flac is definately the way to go... You are sure to get lossless without a doubt.
You CAN use raw wav files... actually... many many PC audiophiles rip a CD as one long WAV with a .cue sheet for tracks... and then they use a player that can play by cue sheets.
In windows you can set a folder or a drive to be compressed by the operating system. This would give you the FLAC-like compression but allow you to keep the raw wavs, if that is what you want.
I prefer my tracks to be devided so I can choose from within windows explorer... and flac will give you completely lossess and a good saving of space. Both winamp and foobar support flac and I am sure the squeezebox does too. -
Whats your drive offset??????
Jitter correction? Indian -what???
Even for audiophiles a bit perfect copy isn't necessary for it to sound exactly like the original - if your offset isn't right you'll enjoy the sounds just the same - for the record I do have my version of EAC set up properly!
I've mentioned these sites before but I'll do so again here. They are great resources for lossless, free, live music.

Apple Lossless would be your best bet.

Ok now I am confused, why is a Mac Book different then any other computer? I know Macs are difficult to use with some programs so I inferred by your ? that they couldn't run EAC and FLAC, which is why I said Apple Lossless.
No matter which format you choose (Apple Lossless, FLAC, or WMP Lossless
) there should be no difference in sound quality as they are all lossless compression techniques. -
It's my understanding that the EAC program will not run on a Mac.Sharp Elite 70

Ok that explains the confusion, I was mistakingly under the impression that EAC works on a Mac but the FLAC encoder did not.
Sorry I can't help, never used a Mac before. -
Well the Apple lossless sounds terrific with my DAC1 so I suppose I will just suffer.:pSharp Elite 70

Not nec true. Some feel there is an audible difference between the 3. I have the most experience with FLAC and it has produced superb results. Apple Lossless and WMP Lossless aren't always a bit for bit copy.
Again, can one hear a difference, maybe maybe not. Cetainly if you don't have support for FLAC then you may have no other option. Strcictly speaking with the squeezbox, it's compatible with all 3 but I would use FLAC.
H9"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. I agree which is why I said that "there should be no difference...". If they are all lossless then by definition there is no difference between them, they should all be bit perfect copies of the original and therefore identical to each other.
This of course may not be the case in the real world.
