I didn't even see it amongst you post, Analog. After I saw Ken's response, I kept hearing "Mr. Skin" in my head.

THIS ONE WILL BLOW YOU AWAY. . . it is just a massed produced record that I purchased at 19 years old in 1974. It is extraordinarily dyamic!!!

    Supertramp
    Crime of the Century
    A&M SP-3647

Joe- great pick. I picked up a direct to disk copy about 30 yrs. ago and it is still a primary reference LP. "School" is an awsome track recording.

Wow; I'm surprised no one has mentioned Jazz at the Pawnshop. Everyone should have a copy of this one!!!!
Edit: There's one track I can hear over and over again: I'm Confessin'
    Unreal.

Wow if my mass produced copy sounds this dynamic and clear, the direct-to-disc must be completely awesome!!!

    Joe,

You must get a commission on JATPS sales. I think everyone here owns it after your rant.:D

Great album! Thanks for sharing. I find that threads like these introduce so many new things, it's great to talk about music instead of Mercury poisoning.

    Miss your CL (Carl)!!

Speaking of Mercury poinsoning, I have a ton of old Mercury recording that are REAL albums. They don't even have the names of the songs on the record labels, they are hand written in the ledger of the opening side of the "album." This came from the "phono album" era.

BTW Ric, my favorite cut of Jazz at the Pawnshop is "Lady Be Good." It has everything in it. My second and third are "Limehouse Blues" and "High Life."

    Here's mine:

    1. Derek and the Dominoes - Layla
    2. The Eagles - Desparado
    3. It's a Beautiful Day
    4. Traffic - Low Spark of High Heeled Boys
    5. Alison Krause and Union Station - So Long So Wrong
    6. The Allman Brothers Band - Idlewild South
    7. Wet Willie - Drippin Wet
    8. Dave Bruebeck - Take Five
    9. The James Gang - Funk 49
    10. The New Riders of the Purple Sage

Way too many good ones out there, but these are as close as I'll get to a favorite top ten. This thread is great. Y'all reminded me of many I haven't heard in awhile. Time to go home and crank up the system.

My top number one favorite is More Dirty Dancing as I reviewed in another thread.

Second is Janis Ian, Breaking Silence.

Third is anything from Laurie Anderson.

Right now I'm enjoying Bongos and Brass, (some old compilation of, well, Bongos and Brass). This is good for me but probably nothing special other than I like it.

Manhatten Transfer is next but I don't remember the title.
    Vinyl, the final frontier...

Avantgarde horns, 300b tubes, thats the kinda crap I want... :D

My guess would be anyone reading the thread (other than you, of course). This is an exploration of musical tastes. A declaration, if you will, of what vinyl has a semi-permanent home off the shelf of most collectors, choosing instead to have it at their finger tips, ready to play when the mood strikes.

Let me say it clearly....I care....The "10 list" has spoken to many of us. Each list states the writer's musical turn-ons. These are something to be shared and appreciated. Scoffers are hard to understand in this context. Why scoff GG? Why retort so?

THEY care George...the ubiquitous THEY that everyone talks about...THEY must care.

    I like you don't care...but I'm just like that.

The majority of the threads in this forum I don't care about. I only read the ones that I'm interested in. If I were to write "Who cares" in all the threads that I don't care about, it would be silly.
