I am looking forward to hearing a class A amp for the first time. I managed to score one on ebay the other day, and am all amped up :p thinking about it.

I hope all the hype about the sound being more involving etc is true. I feel kinda like a kid on christmas eve waiting for Santa lmaooo

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

I usually cook some vittles on top of my amp for an after listening snack.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

A Bedini BA-803. RuSsMaN said it was the sh*te. So as many amps and audio related items that he has owned and listened to I believe him. And went ahead and bought it.

I sent Gary Bedini an email asking about this amp because on the bedini spec sheet it says 200/wpc at 8 ohms. But on audiogon bluebook listing it says its 250/wpc at 8 ohms and this was his reply.

    Dear Daniel,

Thank you for the email regarding your amplifier. The BA-803 is rated at 250 watts into 8 Ohms, at 4 ohms it would be 500 watts, and at 2 ohms it would be 1000 watts.
    best regards,
    Gary

Okay I just recently joined the gon blue book. . . please don't tell me it's a piece of **** cause that is the impression I am getting. Everytime I check some things out the info seems either dated or just plain incorrect. For instance I was checking out a tonearm that I know brand new is $5300 the go had it new for $3000.

Actually what doro had said was that they updated there bluebook info when there members reported selling an item.

I replied by saying that if that was the case then no one had reported selling anything since 2005. it seemed to me that I could not get any up to date info through there bluebook.

But doro was right and I was wrong. damn I hate when I say that :p I actually found some info on an amp that sold in 2007.

As far as there retail pricing goes it seems that 99% of what i have checked on in that regard is accurate.

Hmmm.... Perhaps lol. But im sure they make mistakes also regarding retail price. But for the most part on what I have checked on is pretty accurate.

Yep, if you buy anything bigger than a $149 Sony receiver, you got screwed....;)

That being said, I'll give you that $149 for that Bedini. That has to be a fair price, since it only has 2 channels and no tuner or surround decoding. I'll even pay the freight....:D

Ok Deal. But the shipping is gonna kill you, I figure 2k for shipping and HANDLING charges :D

Here are a few pics, this one doesnt have the rack handles but ive included a pic that does. I am going to see if I cant get a pair from Bedini electronics and possibly a face plate if this one is too scarred up.

Also for RuSsMaN the last 3 pics are of a Bedini 25/25

I think that is how they got the terrorists at Gitmo to talk, her album on a continues loop...they then asked to be executed.

Ok the new amp showed up today:D And im really liking it so far.

My impressions thus far are the highs are very accurate and sweet sounding. The midrange is more lifelike might be a good term but crystal clear. The bass is fuller richer and very hard hitting and fast.

Much more overall detail than my previous amps, with no detectable distortion hiss hum or other noises.

It does seem to run pretty warm allright lol.

I think a nice tube preamp is the next thing on my agenda then possibly the TADAC that ive read so much about, then I think I will have reached as close to audio nirvana as I need to be :p

Glad to hear you're enjoying your amp.

The tube pre and TADAC sounds like a great path to take.

    Thanks Early B.

I took the top off this amp because I felt the need to make sure was all intact before I hooked it up, and I simply like checking stuff out lol.

It has 6 huge caps that look like the ones that you see in the older Mc amps 36000uf each no bass sag here. 12 motorola MJ10254 output transitors per channel. 2 large torodial stacked transformers.

I took a couple pics of these items. Luckily for me the face plate is in good shape with no damage. I am waiting on a box of parts he is sending me hopefully the rack handles will be in it. If not I will fire off an email and see if I can buy a pair from Bedini electronics.

Only if ya go poking your fingers where they dont belong :D
I guess they say that the caps store up a good hit.

One of things I like so far about this amp is that it seems to sound real if that makes any sense.

Voices are where there supposed to be. Instruments are where they would be on the stage etc. Its not overly bassy or anything like that, simply when there is bass to be heard it is fast and deep but very natural sounding. Nothing is exaggarated or unatural.
