Denon 887, LFE's, and AppleTV

So, I have an AppleTV (and love it) connected to my Denon AVR-887 via HDMI. my question is, it sounds great when I play my music or music videos, but why are there no LFE's...
Obviously, my Polk PSW303's settings on the back of the unit are not being touched, and when I play movies everything sounds great....
Is there something special I need to set?
I just remembered that on my Xbox 360 (via optical) I would have to set the output from Dolby Digital to Stereo to get LFE...
Thanks in advance.

So I tried switching to Optical instead of HDMI...no help.

It can only decode what you play on it. If there is no information on the video you download then there will be no LFE channel.
The Apple tv is killer. I love it.I ove the interface and everything about it except the ability to scroll Itunes music. that kinda sucks. I have not noticed no LFE on it but I will check.Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
it's hard to explain, but even playing Hip Hop tracks, or techno, or whatever that has LFE, nothing...Now when I play it through the 360 and set the audio out on the 360 for stereo, it works...but dolby digital and no.
So, I don't really know what it's doing..
