Great, thanks for the reply :) It is in fact the full set...but he does not have the original boxes...so transporting them is gonna be fun. I will be going in my truck ( Short bed but full sized rear seats that fold up ) ...so I will take plenty of bubble wrap and foam .

At 289 miles one way that puts it at around 600 miles round trip ( Picking up a friend along the way )...at 12 miles to the gallon / 3.00 a gallon here in CA...add like 150 bucks for gas...so like 1,650 for the SRT system to my door.

Any reason there is so little information on these online ? I cant find one single review ? Even polks web page dedicated to the SRT shows no specifications whatsoever...there is a page for specs...nothing clickable ?

Any information from all of the masters on this forum would be GREATLY appreciated.

I have any and all info on the srt system you can ever want.
Just pm me if you have any questions.
I can send you a copy of a review and a copy of the manual if needed.

I actually have 4 spare amplifiers right now...but one of them is slated to be used with my new monster subwoofer for the HT ( Using 1 TC Sounds TC-3000 15" driver and 2 TC Sounds 15" VMP Passive radiators ) ...so I actually have 3 amps I can spare to drive these. I will be using a Rockford Fosgate RF2000 for the SRT's ( And the other RF2000 for the sub )

See pics below..remote pic server was too slow...shrunk pics posted 3 replies below :)

Those RF2000's are awesome amps.... In the June 1989 Stereo Review American Made Audio Classics issue it did 1,150 watts into 2 ohms ....at 200 watts into 8 ohms its distortion was .0023% ...I bought my first one ( along with the matching pre-amp ) after reading this issue in 1989 for $ 1,750
and my second one a month ago in craigslist in pristine shape for 150 bucks :)

The other 2 amps are Proton AA-1150 DPD amps that I can use for the center and surrounds...and for signal sourcing I have a spare Yamaha DSP A-1000 Integrated amp. That should be a killer little drive system for the SRT's

    Shadow,

There are NO SDA cables per se ... It's speaker wire from amp(s) to controller and from controller to the satellites for at least the SDA Array ... The Stereo Array does not have to go through the controller.

The satellites themselves can be biamped or triamped if desired i.e. tweeter, the rest of stereo array, SDA array and as you can tell from the wiring diagrams I provided a link to there are many ways to hook them up.

The subs are connected how subs are usually connected although mine are set up a little differently as they had custom work done to them to allow use of an outboard amp rather than the enclosed plate amps. As a result mine are connected via speaker wire. I'm using the not often seen SRT SDA Rears in the back which require a second SRT controller and FX/1000's on the sides.

My wiring set up looks like the attached.

I'm currently modding the cabinets in my subs.
I want to convert the subs from active to passive in order to use an outboard sub with each one of my subwoofers.
I'm planning on setting up my system in a similar fashion as yours except i want to use the pair of fx-1000 as rear surround instead of side surrounds.

Why don't you offer that information in PDF form to the forum? Let me know and I'll ensure it gets sticky posted and you get your props. If you need, which I doubt, conversion assistance, drop me a line.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I will be going in my truck ( Short bed but full sized rear seats that fold up ) ...so I will take plenty of bubble wrap and foam .

Don't bring bubble wrap, it will pop from the weight. Instead bring foam or sleeping mats for the bottom and blankets or sleeping bags for a snug fit on the sides and tailgate. The top SRT units and center channel have flat backs which you should lay down towards the truck. This will put the drivers facing up. The SRT sub units have a plate amp on the rear but if you take off the front grilles you will find a flat side to lay down towards the truck. These are all heavy so move them slowly.
I searched the forums and found 7 hits...

Try a search for SRT* which will bring up many more hits. Nice luck finding these and the others. :)

Good tips....I just confiscated some comforters and blankets from my wife...I have some sleeping bags ( Was worried about zippers...can tuck those away ) ...So drivers up huh...ok. Then when I pull the grills off of the subs there is a flat underneath ...so no drivers visible on the sub...downfiring ?

Not only is the rear full sized cab of my truck huge...what doesnt fit in there will be good out back in the bed because I have the rail system in the back and have a sliding partition to snug up against any load. Thanks for the tips :)

The grilles are plastic so don't lay any weight against them. Drivers facing up is best and you are correct, the sub fires down. Polk Audio should still have the surround driver in stock so give 'em a call. Mention that you are a Club Polk member.

Be very careful removing the grilles. They're the only part that's cheap on the srt speakers.

They have 3 left :) Helen from polk already got back to me today....so if indeed the one driver in the surround is bad it retails for 60 but its a bit cheaper being a forum member and 2 day shipping

The 10"ers are mounted over/under not one behind the other ...

The drivers themselves fire forward ... but the flared port is downward ...

I had awesome luck with the first stop...horrible luck with the second stop. The first stop was for the SRS's....absolutely pristine....as if he had pulled them out of the box last week...with manual...IC cable...grills are perfection...still tight as a guitar string not one snag...wood is perfection...I have absoloutely nothing to do to these...perfection. Paid my 600 and had an ear to ear grin like a kid on christmas morining.

The second stop for the SRT's went horrible...they were junk...he had everything but the condition was dismal...I could have handled broken grills and scratches( Basically like they had spent the better part of their lives being moved house to house by 3rd rate movers....almost all plastic posts for the grills were broken ) ...that would have been fine...but the controller had serious issues in that it had no left channel output...the right subwoofer had a serious internal rattle...2 of its large pads were broken off...just too many serious flaws for me to dump 1,500 into .

The most serious being the controller with a dead left channel output( It also had spurious pops now and then at random...loud ones :( ) ...we tried everything...swapped inputs from the amp...same channel dead...didnt move...tried like 4 or 5 more troubleshooting swaps...all came back to the controller having a dead channel on the left. He said he had contacted Polk for the rattling ...they said to turn down the bass ?

It even rattled at low level...it needed to be pulled apart and gone through...they had just seen a very very hard life. He said he had a dozen calls for the speakers just crying their eyes out for them...one of those "Lucky" fellows can have them.

Come on down when I get em home ! Which better be soon because my one day trip turned into 2 days and my dog babysitters back at my house are being worked hard by my 4 monsters :)

Last I heard Polk still had SRT Control Center's but they aren't cheap ...

The sub rattle is typically caused by spiders that are pulling away ... This can be repaired if one has a mind to or the SW's can be replaced which is relatively easy to do.

Sorry to hear about their general condition.

Polk only has 1 srt controller left for $1000.00 plus tax.
I just bought 1 of the 2 left in their inventory.
