The avr will work fine, but if you really want the RTI's to sing, get an amp,at least a 2 channel for the fronts. Many decent ones can be had for a couple hundies from Carver,B&K,Adcom, and a ton of others.Enjoy!HT SYSTEM-

Thanks. this is whats stressful for me. some say get the Denon for $1000 and it will run all 6 speakers (2 fronts, 2 rear, 1 center, 1 sub). others say i should spend $500 on a reciever to run the 2 rears and center, and get an amp for the fronts? then some say get seperate amps for everything? this is a bit confusing...if i amp up the fronts, what about the other speakers? thanks for your help

Matt,
Welcome to the forum.
I think the Denon would power your system ok, but a seperate amp to power at least the three front speakers would be much better. Others with more knowledge here will probably give you more details and recommendations.
I currently have the same three front speakers as you and are powering them with an HK AVR 645 receiver. They sound great...much better than the Polk monitor 50s and CS1 that I had before. However, I am awaiting delivery of a B&K Reference 3220 3 channel (220 wpc) amp to power the front stage. I suspect they will sound even better with this amp.
MarkMcIntosh MA252 Integrated Amp, LUMIN D2 Network Music Player, Yamaha Aventage RX-A840 receiver, Emotiva XPA Gen3 2 channel amp, Polk LSiM 703 speakers. Oppo UDP-203 Blu-Ray player, Polk LSiM 705 speakers. Polk Signature S20 speakers. -
The receiver will take care of the rest.Look,we all have different budgets, and if we all could,we would have amps for everything.Thats why you get soo many different answers. If your short on dough, just use the avr for now,but don't crank it to ear bleeding levels. When you got a few hundred burning a hole in your pocket, look for an amp.Go slow so you don't kill yourself and you will enjoy each upgrade you make that much more. Now,if you have some coin to throw out, then go seperates.......Have fun!HT SYSTEM-

Thanks Tony, that made things much clearer. i guess i'm hesitant to pull the trigger on the $1,000 amp when i wont utilitze the whole thing. i'd rather just buy the receiever and amps i want now and be done. i have the cash just want to know how best to spend it...
in summary, i should buy
a) a reciever to power the 2 rear speakers and the sub
b) an amp to power the 2 front speakers and the center channel
what models would you recommend?
thanks.

Bang for Buck, www.outlaw.com (Model M2200 Monoblocks x3). You can find these at a very good price and if you decide to upgrade later you definitely wont have a problem selling them, someone is always looking for them. Welcome to the club, and nice selection you have on your new HT. May I suggest one thing, you may want to look in the new model Denons, the 3808/2808 is just few bucks more than the 2807 plus you get all the new HiDef audio formats if you decide to go HD DVD or Blu Ray in the future. Im not sure if the 2807 will give you Muliti channel LPCM if it does youre still good.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

Honestly I think the Pioneer Elite VSX94 would be a great receiver to run the Rti series. I mate Pioneer Elite receivers with Rti sereis speakers with great results. I think they both work very well together. I don't see any need for power amps on these speakers. Pioneer Elite receivers have plenty of power to drive them to reference levels with no problems.
Denon is another company that does a good job powering them. I perfer Pioneer Elite but you may not.

Good suggestions.........the higher end AVR's will have better amp sections in them and will power those speaks well.Give some thought to your upgrade path down the road.Make sure you get an AVR with pre-outs so you can add an amp later if you need to or upgrade your speakers. The higher end Avr's from Denon,HK,B&K,PioneerOnyko, will do fine.Go listen to some before you plunk down your coin to see what pleases your ears the best.Good luck and let us know what you end up with.HT SYSTEM-
