No it cannot be used on a HDTV DSS or HDTV cable, but it can be used with regualr cable or dss.

I own it, I love it .....Football never will be the same without it.Or any other tv watching for that matter.

TiVo is the way to go....no tapes and full control of all your shows.

Down the road HDTV will be recordable and TiVo will be right there........there can be only one.........for this matter it does have a name..........TiVo he be!!!!!!!!!!

I'm curious, why can it not record HDTV? Can it not handle the signal? Just wondering.....

    Last Question.

    Hey Mantis,

Does that protection stop the computer PVR systems from recording?

Tivo is great! I have two direct-tivo units in my house. If you have kids and need to stop the TV and fix dinner, change a diaper or walk the dog, you can not live without it. Once you have tivo you will never go back to regular TV. I even catch myself in the car wanting to replay the news broadcast to catch what I missed. Too bad thier is no tivo audio. BTW who wants to watch comercials? Only some of the supper bowl ones are really great.
