Zone 2 Problems

I am helping a client of mine hook up his living room home theater and whole house sound. We got a Son STR-DA3200ES and a separate amp to power the whole house sound.
The AVR has HDMI switching and up convert. I have the comcast HD box HDMI output into the HDMI 2 input on the AVR and HDMI Monitor out to the TV. My problem is the Zone 2 function will not let the TV sound be played over the Zone 2. I only get a ground loop hum sound. The other functions ie.. cd, Fm, DVD all play over the the Zone 2 but they are not connected via HDMI they are RCA analog. I think my problem lies with the HDMI connection and after many tries of re-assigning the HDMI video and audio signal I still got nothing. I will try to contact Sony tomorrow. It is driving me ****.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Scott

You're sending a digital signal to an analog output, I don't think that will work Zone 2 I believe they all need to be analog inputs. So with this thinking add alone with the HDMI input an analog signal, the main HT should get the HDMI where Zone 2 will get the analog input.

Thanks Disneyjoe.
I have tried to run some RCA's from the cable box to the AVR but I was not able to get any output from the AVR into Zone 2. I tried various re-assignment with the audio and video but still no luck.
Does the cable box turn off the analog output when the HDMI output is used?

Could be did you try without the HDMI cable hookup to the cable box? Or it could be a that a digital audio signal is on also. I remember having the same issue with a Onk AVR, I now bypass the AVR all together and bring the RCA to another pre / amp.
