I am looking to replace my surrounds with either the FX's or 7's and wanted to know some opinions. I listen mostly to music about 70% and about 30% HT. I would prefer stands instead of mounting to the walls. How are the FX's for music compared to the 7's?

This really depends on placement. Both speakers are excellent for replaying music. Maybe the Lsifx's could be said to be alittle better. Some may say different.
I have owned both and found they both work well. Placement should determine the right speaker.

I am also looking for a deal on a good AMP. I am planning on it soon. I can either get the FX's or 7's first and save for the amp next or get the amp now. I hope the amp will make a difference here when I get one.....

yes, i too am working on getting a decent amp (can be very costly). to make matters worse, i have a depth issue with regards to my entertainment center. only 17" depth. i have been scouring (sp?P) ebay and audiogon. but not sure i can pull the trigger on used equip, although i realize that is probably the better way to go.

how do the speakers sound with out the power amp? it can go either way, holiday season is coming up so should find deals on both items in the next coming months. (at least that is what i am hoping for. I still need a new dvd player and subwoofer as well) this home theater project i embarked on is costing me more than i would have ever thought. all started with, i would like a new lcd tv and snowballed into changing everything i have. of course my sister doesnt mind because she gets all the replaced items. instant home theater set up.:D

To me the sound from my 3805 isn't that bad. My only comparsion is in J&R they have a adcom GFA 5500 and the LSi15's do sound better than mind. Now that I would be looking for a amp do I get a 2 channel or 5 channel?

I found the LSI-7 to be much better for music than the Fx, afterall, the 7 is made for music and the fx is intended for use as a surround speaker, if you want them for music the 7 would seem to be a no brainer to me.

I would def. look into getting an amp first before the surrounds. You said you listen mostly to music so an amp would def. be the better thing to go for right now.
