I've been looking around for some good bookshelf speakers. Budget: $300. There any good bookshelf speakers that provide some good bass and good treble. Been looking at the RTI4's, heard some reviews saying there are no bass, but awesome treble. I like to hear some bass from the bookshelf speakers. Let me know if you guys have any suggestions. I just recently bought the center piece speaker: csi30.

If you have the CSi30 center, then you should look for the Rti38 or Rti70 for your fronts. You should be able to find Rti38's within your budget. The Rti28 would also work, but it has less bass output than the 38's. Are you planning on buying a sub?

Well, for my front speakers. I have the RTI10's.

    My center piece: Csi30.

I did look at the RTI38's, are they good?

I don't plan on buying a sub till later. (I think I am becoming addicted to buying polk speakers)...

If you have Rti10's for your fronts, then you need the CSi5 for your center channel. The CSi3 might work also. The CSi30 has a different tweeter in it and isn't going to give you a consistent presentation across your fronts. You really don't need to worry too much about base from your side or rear surrounds, the Rti4's or 6's would work fine.

your system will preform Best if the fronts and center are from the same series. The rears can be from a different series and even a different manufacture. if you properly amplify the fronts you should have enough bass. you might find that just using an AVR with the 10s leaves something to be desired with your lows.
which AVR are you planing on using?

Would it sound good with just the RTI 10's and RTI 6's? Not getting the center piece...(Using the RTI6's as surround) (or back speakers)

I looked at the Yamaha's specs, it seems powerful enough. would it sound good? you tell me. IMHO, the gear you got is way more then just a startup kit. you can always add a stereo amp, to drive the 10s with more power.

I would sell the CSi30, get the CSi5 for the center. A good center is critical for HT, and for music if you are using any of the DSP modes or SACD/DVD-A/Dolby 5.1, etc. You could easily get away with the RTi4's as the surrounds, although I would opt for the 6's if you can swing it.

The RTi6's can be used as fronts, side surrounds, or rear surrounds. I would buy a good center channel before I worried about side or rear surrounds.

The CSi5 will be good for music. You might check onecall.com as they had some Polk speakers on sale. Good online e-tailer.

And my final question, would my receiver (Yamaha HTR- 5890) power my RTI10's, csi5, and rti6's? I'm not going to get a subwoofer, read reviews that I don't need one with these set ups. Thanks!

Yeah you're right, I love bass. I think I'm going to go with:

    RTi10's
    RTi6's
    PSW505.

Only things I can afford right now..
