losing center sound

Can someone advise as to why after watching a video approximately one half hour. I lose the center speaker sound? I can switch to five channel stereo and the center sound comes through. I`ve tried all the movie settings but the only time I get the center sound is when I`m in the 5 channel mode. This is driving me nuts. I think I may be having a problem with my Yamaha AV 5.1 receiver. I have all Polk monitor speakers except for the sub, which is a Velodyne. I have disconnected the receiver and then reconnected it after approximately a minute, but the same problem remains. Please, I need some insight and advice as to why this could be happening. Sorry for the long post.

i don't know for sure. but it would be my guess is that the amp from your Yamaha's center channel is dying. wire one of your front speakers to the center channel speaker binding posts and watch a movie. and see if it dies out too after 1/2 hour. if so. your center channel amp is going to that big amp in the sky.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?
