My PSW 650 is experiencing some major issue. It doesn't happen all of the time, but about 90% of the time I experience 2 separate issues. The first issue is that I have no bass at all. Green light will be on but there will be no sound out of either speaker. This will last from one minute to several minutes. The other issue I have is when they do work I hear this thumping sound. The thumping sound is just really loud bass every 30 seconds or so. When this occurs I turn my receiver off and the sub still continues to thump every 30 seconds or maybe every minute. It is just one loud thump at a time. I don’t know how long it continues to thump for because it is so irritating I just turn the sub off with the switch in the back. I must also mention that I have tried to hook it up both ways with the same result. LFE input jack or speaker wire to the front left and right terminals on the sub. Exact same result! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Nick

    Hello Nick,
Thanks for contacting us, I'm sorry you're having a problem with the PSW650You would want to:
1). unplug the AC power cord and remove the 12 Phillips head screws that go around the circumference of the amplifier's input plate.
2). the amplifier will come away from the cabinet and you'll see two wires (one red the other black) that lead to each of the woofers. These wires easily disconnect from the woofers' terminals using the slip off metal clips. There will be a green wire that links the two woofers together, there's no need to remove it. It might be a good idea to make a drawing of the inside of the unit to know how things will reconnect.
3). box the amplifier up and send to Polk Audio, 2550 Britannia Blvd., Suite A, San Diego, CA. 92154, please include a short note giving us your name, address and daytime telephone number and explain what you are hearing.
The service department will quickly determine the best course of action and telephone you.
    Regards, Ken, Polk
