It would appear that the right channel on my amp went kaput. One moment I was listening to some tunes, the very next... the left channel was flying solo.
Switched cables and experienced the opposite results, so that rules out the Tylers.

I have a volume control the Oppo, so I made the switch from the BADA to the former and results remained the same. Also did the same with the ol' tele. So it's not a source issue.

To add a bit of confusion into the mix, I figured I would just wire up the HK I've been using as an interim preamp to see how its amp section would fare. No sound at all unless turned up alllllll the way... and very, very muted. Tweets are fine, as is the woofer. Just no juice. And yes... the preamp jumpers were reinserted when I made the switch.

Personally, I'm thinking the HK went sour and brought the Odyssey's right channel down the rabbit hole with it. But what do I know?

any suggestions....
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. check the fuse in the right channel amp.. you may have to open it up.. there might be internal fuses also.

    good luck.

Was about to attempt that last night... I had close to 73 different allen wrenches at my disposal, and not a single one fit the bill.

I'm thinking fuse. Talked to Zero last night. He thought the same.

maybe it's not an allen wrench but the dreaded Torx wrench you need. it'll look similar to a hex wrench but it ain't.

You're scarin' be DB. Wha't this "dreaded Torx" wrench of which you speak? I remember Sid had a time of it popping the lid on his Khartago, but Sean said he was able to lickety-split...

Maybe I just need a jackhammer and a bottle of Beam.

Have you tried metric and American allen wrenches?

Torx wrenches look like allen wrenches only they are more of a star shape.

But wouldn't the screw have a "star-shaped" head as well?

Sometimes it looks like a normal allen screw / bolt if it's shiny or has been painted and you have to have a really close look to find out that it's actually torx.

HAA!! I just looked at the "similar thread" title at the bottom of the page. It would appear that you were destined to responded first DB:D

    its a metric allen wrench...

Make sure when you take off the cover - you press the bottom inwards to make it fold upwards... if you dont, there is a "padding" that will drag on the caps...

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

    Another zinger from Shack:D

Egg's on my face with the HK pre... I had one set of jumpers in place for the preouts to mainouts, but had left off the other set. Stooooooooopid. But it least powers my mains now.

I've yet to open up the amp.

Neither metric or "American" allen wrenches work....
    what to do
    what to do

I've tried emailing Klaus the Hoss, and I suppose he's tied up (hookers?).
Which is odd, because he once returned an email within an hour from Russia.

Guess I should just give him a lil' ring a ding ding. Or maybe the hookers are already doing that.

It's been said Odyssey amps spend more time in the shop than a car mechanic. I didn't believe it at first, but that would explain why every Odyssey owner has Klaus on speed dial :)

So, how does the HK sound with the Gallos? Glad it wasn't the cause of your issues. . . I've got two HK AVRs in my systems.
Stereo Rig: Hales Revelation 3, Musical Fidelity CD-Pre 24, Forte Model 3 amp, Lexicon RT-10 SACD, MMF-5 w/speedbox, Forte Model 2 Phono Pre, Cardas Crosslink, APC H15, URC MX-950, Lovan Stand
Bedroom: Samsung HPR-4252, Toshiba HD-A2, HK 3480, Signal Cable, AQ speaker cable, Totem Dreamcatchers, SVS PB10-NSD, URC MX-850

    I don't know...
you have any Gallos you wanna loan me?:p

Maybe we can get together and go halfsies on a bottle of chloroform and hit up Venom's pad.

The HK's amp section has been quite the pleasant surprise. Not as dynamic or powerful as the Khartago, but it doesn't give up much.
