I am a newb. Plus, this is a starter kit for me. Heading into my last year of college, just want something. Just read good reviews on the rti10's and can't find anyone locally in the Chicago Neighborhood to listen to the rta11t's. I am today though going to head out to the guy and listen to the rti10's.Samsung LN52A850 (52" 1080P LCD TV) | RTi A9's (Fronts) | Csi A6(Center) | FXi A6 (Rear Surrounds) | SVS PB12-NSD (Sub) | Oppo BDP-103 | Panamax M5300-PM

There is a certain hassle to buying used older speakers in that you either can't hear them locally or can't find them at all. The RTi 10's aren't a bad speaker especially for a first time rig. I just prefer the RTA 11's over them. But if there are no RTA 11's to be had then you have to get something.
Good luck

Willing to buy from $150-$250!!!
Someone help me!!
I'm not sure if you've committed to anything yet, but I just picked up a pair of RTA 11TL off of Craigslist from a guy in Elmhurst last week (I'm in Winfield, about 25 miles west of Chicago) for $200.
I'm going to keep them, but if you'd like to listen to them, let me know and we'll arrange a time. I've got the stock SL3000 tweeters in them, but I've also got a pair of the silk replacement tweeters that I plan to install after I've got a feel for how these are stock. We could do a tweeter-comparo if you're interested.
Let me know.

Other than having heard good things, any reason you're so hot after the RTA-11t? Lots of other speakers that are equally small and sound good, especailly some of Klipsch's offerings that don't get the pub the vintage ones do.
For 11ts I'd recommend an amplifier or receiver capable of at least an honest 80WPC. I've driven mine over that, but unless you're trying to acheive hearing loss that's a comfortable power. For a long time I had them on a 40WPC amp but the bass improved greatly when I gave the more headroom. -
Welcome to the forum Agfrost! Agfrost actually bought my speaks. I list Chicago as my location because I figure most people won't know or care where Elmhust is. It won't take much digging for him to realize that had he found me through clubpolk sooner I would've parted with them for less. Oh well. Agfrost was a great guy, we spent maybe a half hour demoing them and could have spent longer. They sort of "posthumously" stayed in the forum and I couldn't be happier.

I know where Elmhurst is, it's 10 minutes away from me. I used to work at Jewel Osco on Butterfield and York.Samsung LN52A850 (52" 1080P LCD TV) | RTi A9's (Fronts) | Csi A6(Center) | FXi A6 (Rear Surrounds) | SVS PB12-NSD (Sub) | Oppo BDP-103 | Panamax M5300-PM

Heh. Should we inform Shack that we've had a +1 transaction?
I enjoyed meeting you and I've been enjoying the speakers. I'm surprised I didn't mention clubpolk at some point, you can see by my joindate that I've been here for a while, mostly lurking.
