Somebody on the outer islands is selling a pair of SRS3.1's for $300 and SDA2's for $150. He says the SDA2's needs a new tweeter. Any opinions or advice? I'd would have to arrange for shipping since I know these are pretty heavy.

Thanks

Really depends which model year the 2's are. The later the better. I'd take the 3.1's over early model 2's anytime.

Yes buy both you can't lose on resale at that price:D . The 3.1's I have owned, and are an awesome speaker for HT, and stereo listening. The SRS'2 will give a much wider sound stage. For us to accurately answer your question we need to know room size, intended use, and which actual model of SDA-SRS2's they are. Either way you will need a high currant amp. Not a receiver.

He didn't say SRS 2's Ben, otherwise I would have recommended those over the 3.1's. He said SDA 2's :)

FWIW, this 3.1, http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/ele/384457555.html, are asked for $550, it is a no brainer for $300 :-) Yes, it sounds better than the 2 as well. 150 is also a good price for the 2's. So, buy both if you have spare coins, you know you can get the money back when resell, probably more!!

Run don't walk! IF in good shape they are at least half going rate.
