Ken,

I know 6510's SDA aren't due till Sept. What is the best replacement recommendation? You do have the 6511's stereo drivers I have been told.

???? I noted that the 1.2's use 6511's as SDA and 6503's as stereo drivers.
Would I do the same if 6503 were my closest match????

Last night we had a power surge the blew 3 driver & 3 SDA. Could you PM me some prices. This really hurts. I hope the new RDO tweets did not get hurt.

Thanks

You should check the rest of your gear before running your system again.

The number is to Customer Service. I posted it so Mr. Lazy **** can call instead of expecting Ken to PM him.

I called already. They said that Ken was gone and the driver tech had left for the day. The person told me to contact Ken today and the the drive tech would be in. I am at work in the mourning so the easiest was to get back to me is a PM. As stated, they told me the 6510's were out of stock and won't be available till some time in September. System has already been checked out with other speakers and is still good.

    Thanks

Eng, you and I have been PM'ing about your blown drivers. Now it's my understanding you were running 2 bridged (mono) GFA 555's. One hooked to each SDA, which we discussed is a no no because of the common ground issue. So I'm confused, which is it.........you blew the drivers because of a power surge or because you were running non-common ground amps with the SDA's?

This is a very good question, that there seems to be no answer for.

"Good" surge protectors are easy to come by,and quite affordable at that.

I believe it was because the common ground Adcom 555II were not common anymore after we bridged each amp and we put 1 555II to left and 1 555II to right. Therefore canceling the common ground amp situation causing a sensation of blownupness. IE we screwed up by not having a common ground amps therefore proving common grounded amp are good not common bad. Boy does it suck to remember rules after the fact. Ouch

    Hello! Roy:
    CAUTION! CAUTION!

No! You can not tie the amps together in bridge mode for the SDA ‘S. The amps will (blow up). Stereo mode is your only way to Proceed.

    Thx, Eric

Subject: 555II ??? Bridged with neg speaker post strapped together for POLK SDA's

    Hi,
We spoke at 1:20 p.m. est. I have 2 555II amps. I want to bridge each amp and feed 1 to the left front speaker and 1 to the right front speaker. I have Polk SDA SRS 2's. They require a common ground amp or they will blow the drivers because the speakers use a SDA wire to share some of the sound from each speaker. I want to know if in the bridged configuration the 2 center speaker post are the one's used in bridged configuration. The left center is negative and the right center is the positive lead. Since the Polk SDA's require common ground I need the jumper the 2 amps together on the left center speaker output post, therefore making the 2 bridge mono amps common ground again. Is this safe? Please get back to me soon.

    Thanks,
    Roy A. Coulter

Can you do that? I need to look at the crossover layout on both of those in the Compendium and see how they compare.

Exactly, It was also 4ohms and really needed a high-powered amp.

If I had blown drivers in a later version I would most likely install 6511's and 6503's

6511's for the SDA and 6503's for the stereo drivers. Basically mimicking my 1.2's

Can do that. The difference in drivers is small.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks
