another one of my friends asked me last night if I knew anything about Mitsubishi stereo equipment from the late 70's.

He is interested in buying from a local seller a Mitsubishi pre amp, tuner and amp. for $380 this gear as best as we can find out was built around 77 to 1979.

I don''t know the model numbers of the three pieces.. but I think they all begin with DA-****

but my question is.. anyone have any experience with Mitsubishi stereo equipment? I rarely see it come up for sale... which says one or two things to me.. either it's really good stuff.. or it was pure eye candy and didn't really sound that great.

I have a Mitsubishi HI-FI Stereo VCR, model # HS-U50 that I have used for years as a source for recorded music. The end result that came from it beat out a old Aiwa [I think....long time ago]and Teac RTR and even Denon cassette players, regardless of the type of tape used.

Records / Plays back better than the HI-FI stereo Panasonic DMR-ES35V that I currently have in my system, and the Panasonic's a one peice unit [CD or DVD direct to VHS].

It's currently not in the rig, but I can't seem to let go of it.

Doesn't answer your question really, but that's what I can offer.

bad cell phone pic. but the gear looks mint... you could never tell it's 30 yrs old. i saw it in person today. it's not hooked up to speakers so I couldn't hear it.

it was really stunning looking gear.. if you are into vintage silver faced gear.. it's great looking. ;)

i couldn't get a good picture of the amp. but it's all black.. basically looks like a big black amp without any cover on it.. so you can see the big cans in it. quite impressive looking as well. 100wpc

It's outstanding gear. The tuners are excellent, the preamps are quiet and the amps have balls. I wish I still had some of the Mitsu gear I sold.

Can't say anything about their hifi gear, never heard any, but they made the best VCR's and tube TV's, bar none.

well my friend bought the Mitsubishi stereo gear and is digging it hard. He's coming from a Yamaha receiver to vintage separates.. he's now hearing things in his music that he never heard before. I haven't heard his new set up yet.. but hope to in the next week.

He's been getting back into vinyl as well, ever since he saw me returning to albums about 6 months ago.
