11? How about 11 million?
M$ admits ALL 11.6 million Xbox360's are faulty
What's even more amazing to me is the fact that this problem won't be considered a big deal.
How can this not be a recall? Everyone of them is screwed up! Retailers should just pull them from the shelves.
I bet that if the PS3 had the same amount of games right now, there would be a much larger upraor against MS. Kinda like they are the only game in town right now so we have to put up with it. Thankfully they do not control the this market, yet.

Because recalls are very expensive and M$ doesn't want to pay. It's hard to say but the article might have implied that stock on shelves at stores would be sent back to be "fixed".
Give it time. Once news of this spreads it will only be a matter of time before lawyers get involved and a class action lawsuit will start up. M$ may end up being forced to recall the faulty units sold so far. -

I was actually referring to the act that MS is doing, not listing it as a recall, yet they are spending over a billion to do exactly what they would do if it was a recall. They are trying to save face on a product they rushed to market. I remember reading an article about the 360 and its cheif boss, he was so excited to stick it to Sony by coming out early. And here we are. I love video games and hae owned a ton of consoles over the years. If one broke on me twice in that short period of time I would call it crap and give up. 11 times, that is just comical.

Alot of people criticize MS for rushing the XBOX to market. I don't necessarily agree with those criticisms, here's why:
A - I serously doubt MS knew about the issues when they released the units. No company with a good long term business model (say what you want, MS is here to stay) is going to release a product that they know to be defective unless there's a significantly good reason to do so (sure we beat the Russians to the moon, but we killed a few people in the process) - point C below comes into play here.
B - There's no guarantee that delaying the launch and conducting more extensive testing of the units would have uncovered any issues. I imagine that MS has an established QC process as a part of their manufacturing process, and delaying a launch isn't necessarily going to bring about more extensive testing. If you think MS skimped on the testing just to get the units out the door, then see point A above.
C - I think a quick survey of the games available on both systems proves that coming out early was probably a good move. The advantage of being the first to market is that you also get more good games out before the competition, which is exactly how things have played out. I don't own a PS3 yet, but the thing I constantly hear is that everyone owns an XBOX because it has better games - likely because it was out a year earlier.
MS is taking a big hit financially on the XBOX 360 warranty issues. The question is did they :
A - Do it intentionally to be the first out and the first with more good games
or (they took a gamble and in this case may have lost)
B - Do their due dilegence when producing the units and just miss these issues in their testing. -
C: they released them to the public with crossed-fingers behind their backs!:D

Regardless of the why's, my only problem is that now they've acknowledged a flaw in ALL systems out there, yet they are not going to fix ALL of them -- only those that fail within a certain time period. It seems to me like they are hoping to save some cash by not doing a full scale recall and fixing the entire problem.
I don't have a 360 so I can't complain, but I sure would be pissed if my system died just after their new "extended" warranty period. -

Sorry to hear it Power. Yet seems pretty common. I have an idea, I think Best Buy has a 30 day return policy. Why doesent everyone just keep the 360 29 days then return it and rebuy another on the next day. Hopefully one can last 29 days though...

Oh, I missed this before. I RROD'd about 3 months ago. Have an Elite now.

Exactly, The internal fan is not sufficient. I heard that version 1.2 is coming out in August and that the price is dropping to $200.00
The new one will have better fans and a better DVD reader which does not scratch dvd's
you lost me at hello...
