PSW300 fuse blowing

I have a PSW300 that keeps blowing the 3Amp 250Volt fuse immediately upon turning the power on. The problem began when I had to re-glue the spider to the metal frame. This was an easy task, and I did not disassemble or even touch any of the electronics/circuit boards while performing this task.

When I reassembled everything, it started blowing fuses. I have been through 10 fuses that immediately blew. I'm stuck and have no idea what the problem could be, or how to diagnose it. I removed the wires at the woofer to make sure the voice coil was not shorting and still blew fuses.

Also, the replacement fuses I have been trying are "fast acting" AFE-type, AGC, 3AG, 312 from Radio Shack.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello,
    It could be that the in-rush turn on current is blowing the fast acting fuse. The PSW300 amplifier fuse should be a 3 Ampere/250 Volt time delay or "slow blow" fuse that is the standard 1/4" x 1 1/4" size.

    Thanks for the advice Kenneth,

    I used the "slow blow" fuses and am still having the same problem. What next? Should I start looking for a shipping box?

    Hello,
    In all likelihood there is something wrong with the bass amplifier. It would be best to remove the amplifier and send it to Polk Audio, 2550 Britannia Blvd., Suite A, San Diego, CA. 92154. Please include a short note giving us your name, address and a daytime telephone number. To remove the amplifier do the same procedure as you did to replace the fuse, there will be a red wire and a black wire that will go from the amplifier circuitry to the woofer. Follow the wires to the woofer and disconnect them from the woofer's terminals.
    The service folks will examine the amplifier and determine the best course of action.
