Hey

Obviously this is my first post here so I got a question.

I'm looking to buy a set of RT2000 ( i don't know if they are i or p) and a CS350 and 4 Bose161's

the RT's are about 10 years old and the CS350 is about 9 years and the Bose are about 2 years old.

what is the life expectancy of these speakers? being that they are 10 years old would they have started to rot or wear out? assuming they sound excellent and they look good what price would you think would make it a good deal?

Thanks
SteveO

If they where taken care of, they can last a lifetime.

The Rt2000p's are nice speakers. they sound pretty damn good when set up properly. I'm not sure what the going rate is for a pair but they did cost like 2 g's back in the day or somewhere close to that. If you can get them under a grand, I think your doing ok. They may go for less then that though. The CS350 is a nice center channel. Big but very nice. I personally really like it alot.
You should beable to pick that up cheap.

    Good luck man

    Thanks for the reply.

I bought them yesterday for $525 and they are now sitting in my family room waiting for a receiver.

I tried them out with an old surround system that I had and they sounded good.

one question I do have is that when they are in the AUTO mode or OFF mode how do you know if they are off? does the light on the front go out?

    thanks

Congrats Steve. I just now replaced my RT2000's after 6 years of enjoyment. Awesome speakers. BTW, The green light stays lit all the time.:)

Ihad a set for years, with a 350 for a center. They may be 10 years old (I doubt it), but they are still excellent for what you want them to do. I only got rid of them because I got their bigger brother. I still use the CS350LS for a center, and don't really see any need to change it out.

Excellent price. Just be careful you don't blow the tweeters, they don't make them any more...

Anthony, is that the CS350LS you got from me?
If so, I bought it in December/1997. Glad to hear it is still ticking.

Lights are always on, but after a few minutes of no signal you'll hear them click off. Put a small piece of electrical tape over the power lights if they bug you... they did me

I had a pair of the 2000p's for 4 years. Great speakers! I definitely recommend letting your amp drive the mid/tweeter section and connect the L/R line level outputs from your amp to the line level inputs on the 2000's. IMO, it makes for much cleaner sounding bass.
