Was at my uncle's house years ago and heard his setup. He had mission bookshelves with a Denon AVR. Have been hooked on audio ever since.

So what's the speaker that got you into this hobby?
polkaudio RT35 Bookshelves
polkaudio 255c-RT Inwalls
polkaudio DSWPro550WI
polkaudio XRT12 XM Tuner
polkaudio RM6750 5.1

Front projection, 2 channel, car audio... life is good!

A friend of mine had some DCM Timeframes and she was into seperates. I did not know about seperates at the time so I first bought an AVR and some Polk RT16's. They are both long gone but the hobby continues.

Some solid little infinity's. Then I bought some Polk woofers to replace the infinity woofers. Then I said damn these sound good, so I bought some monitor 4.6's, more monitor 4.6's, and then 5's, and then RTA15TL's, and then SDA2's, and then SDA2a's, and then I built some early efforts to copy big SDA's, and now home built SDA-SRS's, and finally my monster SDA's are in construction. Then I will need to build a center channel. I hope I am done for a while.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks
    Ben

I guess it would have to be My Kenwood 888D's. Got them in 1977, and they still sound great. Driven by Pioneer Spec-1 Spec-4.

PYLE 15's. Yup, I said it. I started off as a basshead in the late '80s(I was 10, give me a break.) From there it was a ton of lower mid-fi stuff, mostly car audio hooked up in the bedroom running off a car battery and charger. Then the vega's hit the scene around '92 when I was DJing with a couple friends. My first ear on a set Infintys was around the same time I started the DJ gig. The Infinitys sounded real nice, but just didn't put out the bass the Cerwin Vegas did. Now the speakers that got me into real sound quality is the set of SDA 2s that are in my living room. They are going no where, they are here to stay (unless I get really desperate for money.) Now I just have to find 5-7 more polks for the HT, and move the SDAs into a proper 2ch rig.

Klipschorns at Custom Audio in Little Rock, AR back in 1979. I was 13 at the time and was blown away at their size and the volume they had for being ran off of a 10wpc Yamaha amp (I think it was). Of course, I've changed since then.....

Playing around with some $80 computer speakers combined with a NuReality surround simulator and TV speakers (the fiddling) when I was 10... then a Bose Lifestyle system and the realization that it really wasn't very good when I was 14 (the horrible port noise / bass module resonanting buzz louder than the actual bass pushed me over the edge), and that there were far better things out there (Dad bought Kef reference speakers and McIntosh gear some years later).

Polk Audio R30's. Yep, the baseline Polk knocked the snot out of everything that came before it (Infinity, JBL, Pioneer, Sony, Cerwin Vega, Bose, Jensen, Realistic) - guess that wasn't that hard for the R30's to do considering the competition but they did open my ears.

Quadraphonic (don't know what the model was). My then best friend Jon Stratmann was my first introduction to hi-fi. He had a Harmon/Kardon receiver, a pioneer flat-laying cassette deck, a Dual turntable, and a pair of Quadraphonic speakers. He was 12, and yes, his parents were wealthy. I was in awe.........

RTR 300Ds and RTR 600Ds got me a serious start and I had a very old pair of Magies. My buddy still has the 300Ds and the Magies as a matter of fact he is going to bring both sets over to see how they are working and sounding these days. From what I understand the Maggies still have brown on them from the cig smoke it attracted back then. Here's a pic of the 600Ds.

After that it was the first Polk SDA/SRSs.

I was an audio nut since a kid. the first speaker I heard that openned my eyes to the difference between good audio, and great audio, was the RTA 12B. a friend of mine's dad owned them many moons ago.

fast forward to about 5-6 years ago, when a pair came up relativly local sale for a benji on ebay, I made the road trip to get them, my audio upgrades went on a slow and steady tear from there.

yes, these are the 12's that currently reside at the apartamente de fireman32, so I still get to hear them from time to time. there's something about that peerless tweet I just love

I'm a newbie, I sorta fell into all this by accident. I got hooked on a pair of Lsi9's we have in a demo room here, I don't recall what was driving them @ the time but was probably a HK receiver. Went on to get a pair of LSi's for myself and it was the beginings of a healthy addiction. :)

A friends EPI towers run on silver faced Marantz seperates. I was blown away when he bought the very first CD player (the name escapes me, Sony perhaps) It was a vertical loader. You loaded the cd like you would load a cassette tape.
