    I am a character, I have none.

I like them both, so what's a girl to do?

I have no problem stirring this pot because it needs stirring and remember, I didn't contact him, he contacted me.

I'd probably make a pretty good doctor myself if I didn't have to deal with the sick, injured, handicapped.....
Guess I should've thought of that BEFORE I went to boom school.

Although I normally think of myself as an ar$ehole, I don't think that I'm out of line when I say that I think that that should qualify me for at least the honorary title of jackass.

And I do believe Joey is going into the field of proctology; his experiences on here might have been a factor in his career decision.

.....or so I like to think.

I don't know, this should have been handled with some garden hoses and a pillow case full of doorknobs in a dark alley and not publically in the forum. I mean, who cares? Move on... Hope he isn't your doctor....

Sorry, I had to run out right after I posted the jackass email. I wanted to bring up another tidbit about my buddy.

In a conversation, relayed to me, about his pending medical career, Joey responded that he wasn't interested in working with people that have disabilites or handicaps as they were too much trouble. He said this as he was standing in front of a gentleman in a wheelchair!!!

    Talk about a jackass.

I heard that story as well. I was dumbfounded that he would say that while talking to someone with disabilities. Talk about a jackass!

I'm going to take a guess and say that Joey's comments, if true, need to be placed in its original context to be properly understood. If I recall correctly, Joey wanted/wants to go into emergency medicine. Lets not judge him as though he is evil and only wants to work with the healthy and low maintenance.

What you have to do for some of those people (handicapped/disabled) takes a special kind of person. I mean, who really wants to pick up a guy (deadweight) from a wheel chair and wrestle him into the bed with the threat of him taking a crap/piss on you at the same time? (Yes, this has happened)

Could he have been more sensitive? Probably, but who knows if we even have 10% of the whole story. Anyway, who are we to judge what he is doing?

caring for the diabled and handicaped, especially on a constant basis, takes extreme patience. I worked with them on a transport end. I;m a big guy, so the lifting and moving part was never a huge issue, but after a 15 minute or 1/2 hour ambulance trip I could walk away.

hard to be a dr and avoid it completly, so maybe what he said ws taken out of context....of course, I dont care either way.

I heard the story from the mouth of the person he was talking to. Sure it probably wasn't meant to be outright hurtful to that individual, but it lacked tact and class. He should have thought before he spoke. Based solely on his behavior here (we all behave somewhat differently behind the screen) his bed side manner is going to need some polishing.

I won't fully judge him (or anyone) solely based on their posts on a forum like this. I'd like to meet him in person someday and see how similar he is to his screen persona. Some are exactly the same others are completely different face to face.

My only foray into this post was to confirm what he said in the context of what he said.

Whenever I get a package of plain M&Ms, I make it my duty to continue the strength and robustness of the candy as a species. To this end, I hold M&M duels. Taking two candies between my thumb and forefinger, I apply pressure, squeezing them together until one of them cracks and splinters. That is the "loser," and I eat the inferior one immediately. The winner gets to go another round.

I have found that, in general, the brown and red M&Ms are tougher, and the newer blue ones are genetically inferior. I have hypothesized that the blue M&Ms as a race cannot survive long in the intense theatre of competition that is the modern candy and snack-food world.

Occasionally I will get a mutation, a candy that is misshapen, or pointier, or flatter than the rest. Almost invariably this proves to be a weakness, but on very rare occasions it gives the candy extra strength. In this way, the species continues to adapt to its environment.

When I reach the end of the pack, I am left with one M&M, the strongest of the herd. Since it would make no sense to eat this one as well, I pack it neatly in an envelope and send it to M&M Mars, A Division of Mars, Inc., Hackettstown, NJ 17840-1503 U.S.A., along with a 3x5 card reading, "Please use this M&M for breeding purposes."

This week they wrote back to thank me, and sent me a coupon for a free 1/2 pound bag of plain M&Ms. I consider this "grant money." I have set aside the weekend for a grand tournament. From a field of hundreds, we will discover the True Champion.

    There can be only one.

M&M Testing, I totally remember doing that when I was little. Yellow always seemed to win, but then of course that was back when all M&M's were earth toned (you want the light brown one or the dark brown... emmm **** color...)

Having been the recipient of a few 'flame via PM'....I'm inclined to do the same thing. Generally, they are from people who would prefer to be seen as lily-white in public, so, yeah, I'm not above shedding some light on a PM from time to time.....

As far as Joey's career choice? Whatever. I could care less. I s'pose that would make my wife someone he would rather not treat. That makes him someone I would prefer not being around her anyhow so it sort of evens things out. I find that people who are willing to make sweeping generalizations like that generally don't know **** from shoepolish so they aren't worth getting in a lather over.
