Here's an analogy -- everyone enjoys a good meal. Like audio, taste is very subjective. Now the guy on a budget can go to McDonalds and enjoy a $5 meal which consists of a burger, large fries, and a shake. Another guy with deeper pockets can go to a fancy French restaurant and drop $250 on a great meal, but just because the meal cost a lot more doesn't mean it tastes better than a Big Mac. If it's good to you, then it's good, regardless of the price.

I like that EB nice insight, try to tell that to some of the anti-hifi insurgents!!!

    Doing TDY?

    Not until September or so...

Nah, I am just at a point to where I've heard what I want to hear and owned with one or two exceptions most of the gear that I have wanted (within my income bracket) and have put together a rig that I don't have any great desire to appreciably alter.

Now, I'd like to hook up with some other members, hoist a few, tell lies about women and listen to the tunes with the emphasis being on hanging out with my friends...you know?

More of mine. Seriously, I hardly know my system that well. I really need to listen to it more.

Mulveling would be my next choice.

Too many for me to list, due to different things I'd like to hear. Some that stand out:

Sid's Taylo/Odessey setup. Sid was spinnin his wheels for awhile, but he got focused and put together a hell of a rig.
Russman's rigs especially unique/tube stuff; Spendors & Fred Arrays (if he still has them)
Mark's stuff, especially his Maggies and the Cary CDP (you do still have the maggies right?)
F1Nut of course, he gets a lot of positive feedback on his rig
Someone here has Gallo's....I'd like to hear those
    Mulveling has a hellava setup
Darla's rig, esp the VS VR4jr's that she won't give to me
Cathy has a solid rig, but I think it's probably very similar to mine, soundwise
Zero--Sean's current lineup--I think this kid truly has a golden ear, I respect Sean's opinion on gear
Who's the veteran polkster with the Dynaudios?...oh yeah, Mantis---would love to hear his rig
Since George & I are dyed-in-the-wool vintage AR/Carver fans, I'd like to hear Georges stuff
BlueMD--Mike, has a unique system(s) that I bet are incredible to listen to
Madmax, because I believe he's a "beautiful music" guy first---accuracy second like me
Lush, he's a very discriminating listener, I'd bet his system is schweet
Demi, I'd like to see Demi's gun collection....LOL

    Probably many, many more

Actually I am in the same boat as you because I've done so many upgrades/updates that I need to STOP and just sit and listen for a couple of months!!! However one thing MUST be done, I need to treat my room.

I'd like to Hear jm1's system. Dynaudio Focus speakers will probably be my next move. I've been waiting for the new flooring to arrive and it has ( I need an area rug badly...reflections everywhere). jm1 uses the same DAC as me and the speakers I'm interested in...I find the SimAudio stuff dry but I have heard great things between the synergy. His choice in cables mirrors mine. My Harmonic Pro Silway mk II interconnects broken this weekend =( the locking head ripped off the rest of the cable. This could be either an inexpensive fix or a rather expensive replacement.

There are so many fine systems owned by the people of Club Polk that I would have a hard time picking any.

Lush, thanks for the vote of confidence.

I haven’t had a chance to listen to the Focus series yet, but I am sure they will be a fine match for your needs. That must have been some wild party you hosted in order to break the ICs. Please extend an invitation to forum members next time.

As for the Simaudio comment, you need to listen to the separates before making a blanket statement like that. One review of the integrated you had alludes to your findings.

I hope you get the room to your liking and the ICs fixed soon.

    Hey JM1,

I got the interconnect fixed...I've heard SimAudio separates on Totem Mani 2's...perhaps its the speakers...it was a W-5 and I didn't like it =( but sound is preference and perception. Most people John W and my uncle included would consider Krell bright and harsh...I love it. I have however heard Dynaudio and SimAudio are a perfect match.

There are at least a couple local systems that I'd like to hear someday. Early B., George Daniel, and Mulveling for starters.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

Cool. Come on over and listen to a few tunes, then we'll go down south to George's crib and raid his frig 'til there's nothing left but chicken bones, beer cans, and the foul stench of two bowel burgers wandering aimlessly in the toilet.

    1. F1Nut's
    2. DarqueKnight's
    3. HT Rookie's
    4. RT1's

I also wouldn't mind hearing the BBQ rig either, but it depends on what speakers he's using this week.

It would be fun to travel around on a holiday and visit people and check out their set up. I'm sure there are some very diverse setups and rooms that they are in. I'm 48 years old and have started a renewed interest in audio. My system is just getting started and I'm having more fun than I've had in years.

Thanks guys its a trip comming in here
