Well, that what my current speakers are, CLS II that I've had some fun with. I changed the crossovers so the +/-3dB switch now changes between the original II and the IIa version. Many owners felt that the CLS II sounded better if you had an amp that could deal with the high frequency impedance dip. So, now I can go back and forth, but I haven't got things set up yet to know the sonic differences. It basically puts a notch filter in or out around 15kHz.
-
Twenty years ago I couldn't hear 15kHz.
-
sweet...
-
The room I'm using them in is too small, 12' x 12' but the transient response and inner detail are hard to give up. I'm dreaming about the Quad ESL 57 or the Stax mini-electrostatics.

Since we're sharing pics of vintage pieces, here's my contribution.

Styx, that Sansui is beautiful! Even back then, blue illumination on the dial and the meters was cool:)
-
now... is this thread for vintage photos of vintage pieces, or contemporary photos of vintage pieces?
I have a few of the latter... not too many of the former.
I've shared most of the good examples of the former... and they all pale into insignificance compared to Luther's and Ken's offerings...
Let's see what's in the archives...
well... these little guys are cute...
The only nice looking Fisher in the house...
An awful photo of one of the two "permanent" hifis in the basement...
Mediocre photos of some other stuff in the basement...
(actually those last two have been given away...)
and a MacGyver-ized method to do digital to analog conversion :-)
Sorry... I'll stop now.
EDIT: PS... the "blue light special" Sansui is beautiful! -
this takes me back to the 70s....luvin it!..Testing

I remember Curtis Mathes tvs and other electronics being sold down here in Texas, and yes, they had excellent products and outstanding customer service.

Styx, my Dad had that same Pioneer processor back in the day. I remember him getting it and trying to like it. Only to stick it in the closet after a few months. Very cool piece of gear imho though.--Gary--
