What do you guys think would work better with a vintage pioneer tube amp? My buddy has the option for either.
SDA1c = 6ohms
SDA-SRS2's = 4ohms

Thanks Ben

    SDA1C's are also 6 ohms.

SDA's sound better with a lot of power, how much does the Pioneer have?

The sda 1c are better for a tube amp. Out of the two, the 1c are more musical.

I don't know much about his amp except that it is old, and pioneer. 4ohms kinda scares me.

Its for my buddy up in CT. He has the option of getting the 1c's or the twin blade SRS 2's. I have had a few different versions. SDA2's, 2A's, and the 3.1TL's. I have also built some different verities. I am presently building these here.

The blade/blade versions of these two sda speakers are rated at 4ohms.
The pin/blade versions are 6 ohms.

Both versions sound different from each other.
The pin/blade versions have different drivers and a simplified crossover.
I have both the 1c and the srs 2 in both blade/blade and pin/blade versions.
    I prefer the pin/blade versions.

Just send the SDA-SRS2's to me, that'll solve his problem.

The SRS 2's will slay the 1C's.

I drove mine for quite a while with a modded Anthem Amp 1. 40w, push pull EL34. GREAT pairing of amp and speaker.

    Cheers,

Not always. I have SDA 1C's that are blade/blade and are 6ohm. The connector for the IC is not on the terminal cup but below it a few inches. Ken said it was running changes that just happened midstream. On page 28 of the SDA Compendium it says..."Some of the first SDA 1C speakers used the same cabinet style as the 1B (using up old parts again?). Some of the first SDA 1C's also used a blade/blade interconnect cable than a pin/blade cable."

    They're both great speakers.
I love the way the srs 2 sound with video. I find the 1c better for music.
The srs2 are more dynamic, analitical with a wide soundstage while the 1c are more laid back with a deeper yet narrower soundstage.

I hope that was just the first few. I would have him test them with an ohmmeter. He knows how to use one.

I can't argue with the sda bible.
