Loud clicking noise through speakers

Hi to all! I was playing a CD earlier today and am hearing a loud clicking sound through the speakers when I open and close the tray on the CD player. It is more noticeable when the tray is closing; I havent played any music for almost 6 months and never noticed this before. Sorry but this is the best way I know to describe what I am hearing. Nothing has been moved or messed with in the last 6 months. Has anyone else had this problem and could possibly know what might be causing it?
Thanks so much in advance!

When I had my jolida cd player I posted a problem related to I think it was hearing ticking, kind of like I was able to hear the cd spinning through the speakers. It turned out I was missing a screw that screws down one of the boards inside the player to the bottom of the chassis. I went and bought a little pack of assorted electronic type of screws, screwed it down and no more problem.

Mike,
Hi! I also have a Jolida player. The only time I heard the noise earlier was when I opened and closed the tray. I'll check it again to see if it makes the noise when a CD is playing. As for opening it up, if I do that, odds are I won't get it back together!

Opening the player is simple. There will just be some little screws that hold the top cover down. Granted I found that top cover to be extremely tight on my Jolida and was quite difficult to remove after I removed the screws. Others may advise you better but, just stay away from the bigger square looking things. I myself get nervous anywhere around power. Of course unplug the player first.
However, if you are really uncomfortable with it then I would suggest asking somebody that would be a little more familiar as there is a degree of danger involved with power supplies..etc.
Good luck,

FYI, if you do tinker on the inside, please make sure that it is unplugged.;)~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~

I have opened it a couple of times to change the tubes and it was very hard to get apart, at least for me. I did play a CD, turned the volume all the way down and I do not hear any noises while it's playing. It's only when I open/close it and the clicking is much louder when it is closing.
As for being comfortable when messing with anything electrical, I prefer not to but usually have no other choice! When you say bigger square looking things, I have no idea what you mean. I'm guessing power something.
So... since it doesn't make noises while playing, any other ideas what this could be?
Thanks again,

Are you playing a HDCD on a player not compatible? I got that noise playing a HDCD on a Yamaha player but not on a Panny or a Denon.RTI 12 fronts

No, it's a regular cd.

I think the problem lies while loading a disc, it doesn't happen while playing...From what Midnite Mick described, it sounds like a board in the player is not grounded to the chassis anymore....I am no expert in this, but I would open it up again and check all of the screws that hold the circuit boards in place, one may have come loose and is causing this...I would be cautious of the power supply and caps in the unit, but I am pretty sure being aware of where the screwdriver head is at all times is acceptable... -
